The Good Duke
Spoiler Ahead Read At Your Own Risk This was the fourth and final book in the"Properly Spanked" series. When the King arranges a wife for the Duke of Arlington he has no choice but to accept her although he doesn't want to especially when he finds out the lady is Welsh. Miss Guinevere " Gwen" Vaughn doesn't want to marry a duke she wants to marry for love she takes a ride on her horse one last time to her favorite meadow she meets a handsome stranger who draws her picture and spanks her she tells him her name is Rose and he tells her his name is Jack. When the Duke arrives the day before the wedding it is a shock to both of them that they met a few days ago in the meadow. This was a really good book Gwen isn't as polished as the duke would like her to be so he tells her that her manner's has to improve. Gwen for her part is homesick and doesn't want to improve her manner's she wants to be loved for who she is. When she writes a letter to her father hoping he would come get her the Duke gets it and has one of the servant's read it because she wrote it in Walsh he is really mad and although he has spanked her before and used a birch rod on her so he canes her and has anal sex with her. The sex scenes in this book were hot and this book as more BDSM in it than the other books because Arlington realizes that Gwen is a masochist although she is confused by the fact that she likes to be hurt and denies it. As these two continue to battle it is clear to Arlington's friends that they need help so they come to the rescue and although Gwen gets along with the other women she still feels that she is not good enough for him so with Minette, Josephine and Aurelia help they throw a party and she is just not feeling it. So after another fight with Arlington she takes off in a snowstorm and falls off her horse and by the time they find her she is cold with a fever and is out for three days. Arlington realizes that he loves his wife and he doesn't want to lose her. This was a really good book they all had there ups and downs and each man in this series comes to love his wife. This book was really well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I have enjoyed reading this series so if you like reading erotic historical books than I recommend that you read this series and I really hope that Miss. Joseph writes about the children of these couples.

Once upon a time...
It took me a while to one click this historical because I thought it would be so far out of my comfort zone. Nah. It wasn't. I loved getting into his head and feeling what he was feeling. Annabel Joseph has definitely done it again with this book.

Brought me to tears
I can't imagine the level of intelligence the author must have to write such complex and compelling characters. I re- read this story to refresh my memory before reading Rival Desires and it was even better the 2nd time. The anguish that Gwen feels when she thinks her love is unrequited made me teary eyed. You want to hate the Duke but he's just so great and his struggles and beliefs all make sense. Of course there's a HEA but the journey there is so satisfying.

Good writer, bad Bdsm
Good writer, bad Bdsm. This author is very good but I found the bdsm subject to be abusive. Never once was a safe word given or anything other than blatant threats explained (to a virgin no less ). I spent half the book hoping the leading lady would just stab him. The beginning and end of this (once he realized his faults) was very good. I fould the structure and flow of the novel to be excellent but the sex was too redundant and again, very hard to read at times as it felt more like physical and emotional rape. However, this writer is far superior in her story telling abilities than the Fifty Shades of Grey author. I was disappointed in the leading man for sure. Other than the initial meeting (where he actually had a personality) , I found him overly controlling, egotistical, sexist, cruel, and an overall pompous ass. It would have been nice to have seen more development from him. I very much enjoyed the leading lady however and her spirt (especially when she first rides her horse ) was what kept me reading when i wanted to give up. I think this writer should stick to historical romance but reconsider injecting bdsm into her storyline. This was not a healthy example of that lifestyle until the very end. I never leave below a three star for an author but in truth, i have never been this conflicted before. Five star overall writer, one star bdsm author.

Very good
This is a very good book, great plot and characters visit from the previous books in this series. This can be read alone, as I read them out of sequence and plan to read the others I already purchased. That is how good this book is. It shows that love is very important in a relationship to survive. That one can fix what is broken if one is alive to do so, and recognizes that there is a problem. Please read this book if you like a great spanking book.

Say what you will...
Say what you will, you just can't beat a historical/regency romance. I just finished this book, the 4th book in the series. I really, really hated to see it end. I have thoroughly enjoyed all 4 books in the series and can't wait to read more about these characters. Of the four main characters, I loved Warren the best. I don't know why I just did. Historical/regency romance has always been my favorite, and from what I have seen nobody writes it better than Annabel Joseph. The only thing I did not like about the 4 books were the whipping scenes. I will never understand how someone can get pleasure from someone else's pain. I don't care how erotic it is. The sex was great! I would have bought these books for the covers alone. Where did they find these 4 men on the covers? I never tire of looking at them and dreaming. I am seriously thinking of ripping the covers from the books and framing them so I can see them all the time. Looking forward to another series just like this one. WELL DONE, ANNABEL, WELL WELL DONE!!!

Great book, great series
The four books in this series were excellent. They were brilliantly written and well-edited. I binged them all. I especially liked the character development. These were not your typical stock characters, but unique and different and memorable. Each one was my favourite.

Enjoyable series
Just enjoyed the last in an enjoyable series. Great characters - loved catching up with all the previous characters . The epilogue was particularly lovely and I hope that Annabel decides to follow these characters into the next generation!

Under The Duke's Hand (Properly Spanked Series)
Another best seller for Annabel Joseph. This book was very emotional till the end. I laughed and cried throughout. She has a lot of imagination and writes perfect English. I hope she keeps writing historical BDSM because her books are the best!

Great Read!
Another great book from Annabel Joseph. The S&M aspect is less heavy but the character and romance development is still there.

just OK for me.
It’s been a while since I’ve read an historical romance. I was introduced to this genre by the amazing Judith MacNaught stories. After them I’ve tried some by other authors but very few could really measure up, mostly Anne Stuart’s.At the beginning, I thought I would really love this story, that there would be lively banters and funny fights between the MCs, just like in Ms MacNaught books, with a more sexual edge. But after a while She started doing stupid things, always whining like a spoiled brat. And I’m afraid He wasn’t much better. And the development of their feelings felt a bit inconsistent.
