On September 5, 1986, Arabic-speaking gunmen seized a Pan Am jet at Karachi, murdering 15 passengers and injuring another 127. On December 21, 1988, a bomb planted by Libyan terrorists exploded on Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all 259 people aboard. Twisted pieces of fuselage rained on the town, killing another 11 people on the ground.
