On June 23, 1985, a bomb exploded on an Air India Boeing 747 flying from Torontoto London, killing all 329 people aboard. On October 7, 1985, terrorists seizedthe cruise ship Achille Lauro and murdered an American passenger. On April 2, 1986, four Americans died when a bomb exploded aboard a TWA flight over Athens, Greece. On September 5, 1986, Arabic-speaking gunmen seized a Pan Am jet at Karachi, murdering 15 passengers and injuring another 127. On December 21, 1988, a bomb planted by Libyan terrorists exploded on Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all 259 people aboard. Twisted pieces of fuselage rained on the town, killing another 11 people on the ground.
