Set phasers on stun. Plus you might find plutonium.
Update 10/7/21: Doubled the star score for longevity. My trusty, crusty, and somewhat rusty racket is still zappin, cracklin, and fryin tiny critters. Just keep it away from children - there is no safety grill like other zappers.——————————————————————When I first put together this zapper (think small racquetball racket) I was impressed with the solid feel. I began swinging with abandon at the myriad of south Florida flying critters. As with other reviews, I found this fryer effective against mosquitoes and a stun gun against flies. Drop em and squish em, or let them sit and cook if you are more patient. After about a week of use, the included batteries died. Hmmm this might get expensive. But the batteries included were cheap off-brand junk as you’d expect so perhaps better things are to come. After changing the batteries (which requires a small Phillips screwdriver) I was happily swinging away again. I still was getting eaten up by mosquitoes since you can’t swat what you can’t see, but overall I was happy with the results. Then the unit developed a short inside the plastic casing. I’d press the button and it sounded like I was carrying a Geiger counter. I don’t know if flies can hear but it seemed to destroy the element of surprise. I’m also sure it will reduce battery life. The other consequence was not really knowing if you were killing stuff besides the batteries, especially at night. In case you didn’t know, night tends to be the exact time you really need this thing. One last thing on the design - and perhaps it plagues other brands as well. The trigger button is small and in an awkward spot high on the handle. It feels a little like you are choking up on a baseball bat. Also, the tiny light is useless for seeing any intruder more than a few inches away. All that being said, I still enjoy watching mosquitoes explode, so I can’t rate it one star. And if you think 2 AA batteries couldn’t possibly hurt, it might surprise you. I swung at a fly on my sweatpants (missing of course) and fried my thigh through the sweats. It packed an unexpected punch.

Best. Invention. Ever.
So let's start with dislikes. There is nothing I could find wrong with this electric fly swatter. Lol. Now on to the likes?Ohhhh my gooooooddddnnneesss this turned me into a fly killing machine. Sometimes I get flies that follow my dogs in from the back patio and it's really annoying because flies are tough to chase out the house. Well no more chasing flies. I would wait until they come inside, get comfortable enough to sit on my wall or table. Then I sneak up slowly and ease the fly swatter near them while I have the button depressed.. The next thing you know ZAP when they try to fly away it's game over. The best part is when I hear the most satisfying POP it forces me to let out a maniacal laugh. My dogs watch and probably question my sanity levels. The only warning to anyone thinking of purchasing is if it zapped the fly and he stay attached to the zapper don't let go until his body is fried and smoking. If he gets zapped and hits the floor they seem to be momentarily dazed and disoriented. Don't leave them alone too long or they get up and fly away. All in all 10 starts for the genius that thought up this invention. Highly recommended.

It's fun
Easy to use. Some larger flies you have to zap more than once: the first zap at least stuns, second zap will roast.I've also used it to stun larger bugs (like cockroaches and spotted lanternflies), giving time to squish them.Easy to clean. I like that it's not surrounded by a "safety" mesh, which is why I picked this one. It's also big! Feels a little like a tennis racket. Hefty, but in a good way.Edit in Oct 2022:Several years later, I still use this thing. Battery lasts a long time, too.The fact that it only stuns on the first zap is actually really useful to me; I'm able to stun houseflies just long enough to get them into the enclosure where my pet jumping spider lives. They lay there for a bit, and then wake up & go back to buzzing around and being annoying. Gives my spider something to hunt! Neat!

Good for mosquitoes
Great mosquito zapper.Anything smaller is difficult to hit (fruit flies), and anything larger than a mosquito gets zapped into a daze and sent flying, but then comes back again after. If you are after fruit flies, houseflies, bees or wasps, you might want to stick with aerosols or the large bug zapper traps.

Loud pop, but often does not always kill.
It makes a nice loud pop when you hit a fly, but most of the time does not even kill the fly. It may stun them at best if you dont hit them hard enough to injure them with the swatter. If your lucky enough to have them get stuck in the swatter you can just hold the shock button till you are visually satisfied that they're fried enough. Point being... the first zap typically does not do the job.

More effective and easier than a plastic swatter
If you're still using plastic fly swatters to control flying insects, you definitely need to try this product. The swatter-head is bigger, and with a swing you are far more likely to make contact with that pesky insect. With a touch of a button, your swing of this racquet-style swatter zaps the insect with a jolt of electricity. Totally safe to use, altho I wouldn't let a small child play with it.

Effective for mosquito control.
Works well on mosquitoes. The pop from the kill is satisfying when they're trying to eat you alive. Never had a mosquito get up after shock.
