It is an herb, so it doesn't have to be approved by the FDA.  I can tell you it works.  I had lyme disease and it cured it.  I am allergic to many antibiotics, so I was fortunate to find this solution, because Lyme disease can be fatal.  It is difficult to detect and treat.  It is also caused by more insects than just the deer tick.  Any bug bite that leaves redness and constant itching should be checked for this disease, as it is already affecting your nervous system.  Stay on it for a year so that you do not relapse.  I learned that from experience.

Is samento the same product as cat's claw?  if it is different, how does it differ?

Some of the beneficial properties of Samento are attributed to the pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids (POAs) that are found in the plant that act on the cellular immune system and demonstrate powerful immune system modulating properties. Samento does not contain the tetracyclic oxindole alkaloids (TOAs) that are found in traditional Cat's Claw. TOAs disrupt central nervous system function and greatly inhibit the effects of the POAs.Some researchers believe that Samento may be as much as 1,000 times more effective than Cat's Claw. One difference between Samento and Cat's Claw is that Cat's Claw is an immune system stimulant and Samento is an immune system modulator. Also, Samento can be used to treat all autoimmune disorders.

Is this TAO free?

yes, I think you mean TOA. However, as I later discovered, According to Stephen Buhner in his Healing Lyme book on (page 366-367), he actually prefers Cats Claw or Samento (Uncaria Tomentosa and Uncaria Rhynchophylla) with TOA and he says that there is no need to spend extra money for a TOA free extract. He believes that TOAs and POAs are both important in Lyme Infection. And I guess other infections as well. Hope this helps you.
