Great for Classic Cars
Installed on an older vehicle (1969) using the magnetic pick-ups on the driveshaft. I had done a couple of the Audiovox units years ago so I was somewhat familiar with the set-up -- but the instructions are comprehensive enough for a first-time installer. Since the car has a 3.07 diff the RPMs are pretty low at modest highway speeds so I used 2 magnets on the driveshaft and upped the sensitivity range by one step -- I do not know if that was necessary but it certainly worked. The unit engages immediately and holds speed very steady. I tested it over 80 mph and as slow as 40 mph with no issues. I used the coil connection but cannot see that it is needed and disconnecting it made no difference. There is no over-run protection for the engine so if you are using this with a manual gearbox you simply have to remember not to depress the clutch w/o first disengaging (switch or braking) the cruise. You'll probably spend as much time thinking about the installation as actually doing it, in particular the two aspects that will be unique to your vehicle: the location of the servo and the attachment to the throttle linkage. I used a Progresso soup can and a length of 1/4" irrigation tubing to mock-up various locations and cable runs until I was satisfied with the result. No additional wires or parts were needed - even the leads to the magnetic pick-up were long enough to reach the rear of the car. The switch plate is illuminated with the car's panel lights - a nice feature. A multi-pin quick-connect on the main harness makes it easy to work from both ends (engine bay and dash switch) to feed wires to a handy junction point. Two years later - many cross country trips in the past 2 years have been made more enjoyable with this device. It continues to perform flawlessly every time. I do carry an extra chain (Ace Hardware) as that is the most vulnerable part but so far have not needed it.

Good, but lacking adequate instructions
I will start by saying that this product does what it says. It does it well, its a cruise control kit, it maintains your speed, simple.Installation, however, is not. The product i received came with a detailed instruction booklet. In this booklet, it continually referenced "the included reference manual" for the location of a critical wire, the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) wire. This reference manual was not included. I was able to locate it after a lot of searching by going to google and entering a search for "locating vss wire rostra" It was the second result at the time(but google is constantly expanding). the exact link, if Amazon will let me, is [...] thats dub dub dub dot rostra dot com slash manuals slash "Form4428L" dot p dee effAmazon: This is a critical file, that should be included with the kit, if you are going to allow fullfillment by you, include it, or allow easy access to the link.

BEWARE OF YOUR WALLET!!!!!
DEFECTIVE OUT OF BOX. Product appears nice and comes with an excellent installation parts kit. Sketchy instructions but with previous experience, installation is relatively simple. Some vehicle dis-assembly and patience is required for a professional, factory look. Had high hopes after putting my classic project back together but unit failed to function at all. Carefully followed troubleshooting tips in the instructions and all was in accordance with their specifications. Had installation professionally examined and verified and the pros had no luck with it either. Seller very slow to acknowledge inquires and offers absolutely zero support or solution to problems whatsoever. Quit responding to my inquires altogether when I asked for the manufacturer contact information, in hopes they might have ideas to resolve or further troubleshoot the problem. Permanent holes must be made in the dash and under the hood to facilitate installation and if it does not work then you will be faced with dis-assembly and re-assembly of your vehicle again to remove the bogus product and end with a fubar-ed restoration job, sporting empty holes to stare at and STILL NO CRUISE CONTROL.. BEWARE OF YOUR WALLET!!!!!UPDATE 01/2016Finally found a tech familiar with these units and he advised that the dash mounted control was known for failure right out of the box, 1 out of 3. I purchased another entire unit and used the newest dash mounted control from the latest purchase on my original installation. Cruise control then worked perfectly first time tried. Finally, I now have a working cruise control, and at only twice the original price. Lesson learned: Buy at least 2 systems if your want one to work.

great product and so far it works great
great product and so far it works great. took awhile to install, almost 3 eight hour days due to sketchy directions . made you think the only way to attach the wires were their way or noway, but in fact if you think about it you can attach them in easier to get at locations. use the directions as a guide not as a bible and you will get through it faster and with much more ease.getting good information about my vehicle was time consuming and like going through the Patriots offensive line to get a vague answer. even though, the cost was worth it. I would suggest that you have a buddy help you, someone small with skinny arms and good vision. I would definitely recommend this to anyone

It's good but not perfect
Will not work below 50 miles an hour, the throw on the actuator isn't long enough for my car so it doesn't accelerate to Full Throttle. I have a small engine low horsepower car so going uphill it'll lose speed until it shuts off at 50 miles an hour. It'll only open the throttle 2 about 95%. I have to turn it off then back on to change speeds. If I use the accel or decel it will creep back to the original setting. But other than that it does what it says it does

Please read.
Takes quite a bit of time to do a good install.. (5 hours for me, ASE certified ) unit has trouble or does not work on cars with some electronic ignition systems, solid core wires or cars with florescent lighting.. all these items cause false signals for the RPM pick up. requires building a additional relay system if your car has LED lighting . . Best used on old cars with factory ignition
