my daughter ,Heather Hamblin, bought this for us,ours does not heat the bed, constantly flashes, heats to 78? what did we do wrong?

Flashing lights mean that it is heating. 78 is preset at the factory. Use the up arrow or plus button to increase the temperature. 78 is too cold for most climates. I run mine at 80 in summer and about 82 in winter but I like a cooler bed. Also to minimize the amount of heating, put a thick blanket or comforter across the entire bed to avoid heat loss.

I bought this for my soft side waterbed in a wooden frame. The writing on the heater states it is for a hard side waterbed. Can I still use this?

That heater should only be placed on plywood decking. If you have a softside and the hetaer is going to lay on foam, Do not use this one. It needs to be exchanged

Lowest temperature the controller can be set?

I am in Indiana. Today it was +1 F. My setting of 85 is wonderful. House thermostat is set to 67 F. But bed is WARM.
