Foundations of Nursing in the Community: Community-Oriented Practice 3rd Edition

I was expected to buy the newest edition, and have made A's all semester with this book, therefore I was not disappointed in the contents it has. I compared the table of contents to the newer edition and the only main differences were the charts that update every so often (Healthy People 2020, some key figures such as current president, etc.). Totally worth buying if you don't have money for the new edition. You can always Google the updated information.

This book is jammed pack with information. Boxes inserted on every page, but the information is thorough. If you try to expand on a subject or process, this book lacks that information. Overall, book just touches basic information about community nursing.

I have had a few nursing textbooks that put me to sleep. This one was the opposite. While no textbook is a "page-turner", this one was engaging from the beginning. It details where we've been, where we are, and where we are going in the field of community nursing. Each chapter covers its topic thoroughly. Although I doubt I will ever open some of my textbooks again, I plan on keeping this one for reference.

This book is a GREAT public health nursing resource, it lays down a strong foundation for community nursing. I get the most use out of the clinical application sections, they provide modern situations and are informative. You can access the supplemental student resources online through Evolve. Just follow the textbook's instructions. The resources are helpful for added understanding. I purchased it through Amazon as I do most of my textbooks. The delivery was right on schedule as usual.

Was sent right on time and in perfect conditionI bought this at first from another company and never received it in time for my class. I ordered it a month before class, I had to re-order from amazon and received in 2 days. Saved me. I will not buy from any other company other than amazon

Great price. I needed the latest edition for class however, this book worked just as fine. I compared this edition to the latest one and the content is fairly the same just some minor changes.

I am a RN working on my BSN. This book was a part of the curriculum for my community nursing class. I thought it was written well but it did not appeal to my personal learning style. I am a much more to the point learner, and I agree with other reviewers that this book offers too much conjecture without citation.

Very good book, interesting read, and pays respectful and truthful hommage to the nursing founders. I am proud to be part of this profession and hope to serve the public as these bright women did.
