Great little radio at a great price. Not too friendly to program via Keypad, is not impossible. However, with the USB Cable and CHIRP software, is a breeze to program, upragde and backup the firmware with all the settings. By no mean a base station but do not let the size and price to fool you. Bought one and end up buying 2 more with Nagoya Antennas for all 3s. Great backup radio. For camping, backpacking, outdoors is very portable and lightweigh.

These are my first radios and my GF and I love them. they are easy to use, great value, plenty of information online and You Tube for these models and many people in the HAM radio world are more than helpful for using these. I would recommend these for sure. I will update later on usage, battery and antenna

Great first and back up Ham Radio for beginners/back up SHTF. value is great, good built and battery is great but get bigger battery.

These radios are awesome and pickup communcation with no issues. They are perfect for camping and use on the trails. Software was easy to install and configuration was also simple to get going. These are perfect amateur radios for HAM operators.

Preparing for that "just in case" event. Curious about HAM communication devices and felt like this may be a good place to start based on online video reviews. Good overall value for the cable and the radios. Seem well enough built for the average user. I had heard they were cheaply made but it doesn't appear to be an issue. A slight learning curve on programming but follow instructions and it is really simple.

So far its really cool and is definetly a great value for what you get. However if you have no previous knowledge with something like this it is a bit complex at first. But once you get it all figured out their really fun to play around with.

Éste Walkie Talkie me ha funcionado sin duda alguna, he recorrido esta distancia en tres cerros de gran altura y a pesar de eso he tenido una buena experiencia no habido ninguna interrupción en la señal claro aquí donde estaba no había ninguna señal alguna como de Red de celular o Wi-Fi. Anteriormente había comprado unos Walkie Talkie de los que te venden en las tiendas electrónico pero apenas y recorría unos metros y ya no podía escuchar a mi compañero, si quieres recorrer más distancia con comunicación Te recomiendo Éste modelo de Walkie Talkie, si quieres asegurar más distancia puedes comprarle una antena con más alcance yo he usado el que trae de fábrica y ha funcionado bien.

I tested the output power with a Bird 43 meter with a 50 ohm dummy load. On high (8 watts) the radio only output about 5.25 watts on VHF, and about 5 watts on UHF. No 8 watts like advertised. A normal UV-5R will output about 1 watt less than this radio across the board. So, you're paying $25 extra per radio for 1 - 1.5 more watts.
