Parasite is an early 80's movies directed by Full moon films very own Charles Band, the movie is set in a future wasteland where a scientist is trying to destroy a deadly parasite that he was forced to create, with the help of a young girl he only has a short time before he's hunted down by his employers, the movie has some great old school monster creature effects by Stan Winston, there's plenty of blood and slime and mild gore all on a decent low budget, the cast is pretty decent, this was the first movie to ever star Demi Moore who at the time was 18 and very sexy, if you love old cult rare 80's horrors then this is worth seeking out for a bit of fun.The movie was originally released back in 1982 in 3-D made for a budget of $800.000 and grossed $7 million back making it a 3-D success which paved the way for Friday the 13th part 3 in 3-D, and Jaws 3-D.The DVD Spanish import Parasito (IDA Films) Plays in English language and subtitles can be turned off.Region 2 disc so plays in the UK, 85-mins, 1982.Film on the DVD is 2-D only, features only include star bio's.

This along with Comin At Ya and Dynasty got me hooked on to 3d, an inventive low budget sci fi movie from Charles Band, who was to the 80s what Roger Corman was to 50's and 60's, the 3d effects in this are really effective. This also has the added attraction of an early performance from Demi Moore.

A blast from the VHS days.A Daft and at times slow moving flick and though acted badly by everyone except the beautiful Moore,it has a Charm to it that keeps you watching.

In the future a doctor who created a vicious form of parasite goes on the run from the government with one of the parasites inside him.Entertaining early 80's sci-fi/horror. Combining 3 cult movie makers, director Charles Band, make-up effects by Stan Winston and exec producer Irwin Yablans, so the picture has a decent horror pedigree. The story is fairly basic and its future setting is a bit unconvincing but its easy to follow and because it does nothing to demanding it passes the time very well. Acting is good, Demi Moore in an early role is the most impressive and is given a good role as the lead female but most of the cast are do very well, Band keep the story ticking over at a decent pace with enough fights, story development and a good menacing atmosphere. The only real downside is the parasite side of the story itself, they make only very occasional appearances and it fells far secondary to the story, the gang and government agent are given much more air time, that is until the last 20-25mins when they get loose, the Stan Winston effects are good although not great (its fairy low budget so it's to be expected) but they do look creepy and there's enough blood to just about satisfy most.Overall a fun, inoffensive (someone must've found it so as it was a Section 3 nasty) and very watchable little horror, don't expect too much and you'll have an enjoyable time.

A very early Demi Moore film i have hitherto been unable to obtain.Of it's time and genre it was a good example.A good "B" film.
