Split Ring Plier Sr-5Xlhd XL HVY Duty Blue Handle 30103

These are solid pliers with a nice thick tooth that make changing hooks on heavy split rings very easy. I use these pliers on my heavy tackle for Tuna and Marlin and I’ve never had any issues. I also find these pliers give you a lot of control with heavy split rings so you really don’t have to worry about hooking your self on accident. When the pliers arrived I thought the pliers were small but after using them I found the size is perfect because you have good control of the pliers and the small size makes it easy to fit in my tackle box.

We run large bomber plugs with heavy split rings and hooks for tuna here in the northeast. In the past, I had used a couple different types of pliers and it was an absolute nightmare to change out hooks. Within 5 minutes of taking the pliers out of the pack I already had both hooks off one of the plugs. The XL size are heft and I don't think the rings get much heavier than what we use. These would probably also make very quick work of key rings and pet tags as well. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice robust split ring plier.

These split ring pliers make changing jigs easy. When fishing for Yellowtail, Yellowfin Tuna, and Grouper there is a need to change often from vertical jigs to slow pitch jigs and these pliers make that almost effortless.

I needed split ring pliers to get keys on and off key chains and therefore wanted pliers capable of making a substantial opening in the ring. The pyramid shape on the working end that splits the ring is 1/4 wide and you can twist them a little to get an even wider opening.These work great-no more broken fingernails! I'm glad I didn't go with a smaller version.They appear to be nice quality (Made in Pakistan) and aren't very big with a total length of just under 5 inches.

After struggling with a few sets of tools to change hooks on Nomad MadMac's I bought this plier and completed the chore in minutes.

Not sure if this was just a defective pair, but while trying to upgrade to heavier hooks on my flatfall jigs, one of the jaws snapped off and went flying, fortunately away from me. Put in for a replacement pair hoping this was just a freak occurrence. I only got to use them for six or seven split rings.

Despite packaging which says “hardened” these seem rather soft. The bottom (flat) jaw is showing wear on the edges after one use opening a #7 split ring.The pliers say “Made in Pakistan” right on the side.
