Joy to the World!

Faith Hill continues to redefine what a "country artist" is by releasing a Christmas album that mixes big sound jazz, pop, gospel, and country. The result is a warm and interesting album that brings Christmas joy with a classic sound. Faith offers new twist to old standards and her version of "Little Drummer Boy" (the best cover on this album) is touching, inspiring, and soulful. Her new song "A Baby Changes Everything" is so special because she starts the song by singing about a teenager girl and its not until the end of the song when you realize she is talking about Mary (Jesus's mother). Everytime I hear the song, it brings tears to my eyes...this song is an instant classic!! The only complaint I have against this album is Faith's classic "Where Are You Christmas?" is missing.I don't know if this album will stand the test of time, but I do know this album continues Faith's musical journey with wonderful results. As a result of this Christmas cd, I can't wait for her next album (for 2009) and the long-waited gospel album!

I watched a tv show featuring this Christmas CD and decided to order the actual CD to have at home to listen to in other areas of the house. This is an older CD but it is still such a good one to have. I am thinking about purchasing one for my mom for the upcoming Christmas season. She is going to love it just as much as I do.

I've always loved Faith Hills music and talent.She is very gifted.Her Christmas album is proof of her abilities.I miss her not putting out anything new.

I am from a traditional family and enjoyed "all the Christmas Classics" from the late 30's through the 60's. They were played on an old Webcor Stereo in the living room and on the radio, on Television Specials year after year. Each one was special and evoked a reverence, a nostalgia for times past, and an appreciation for times present. Music touches the soul and what better time for Faith Hill to bring this collection to life. The whole album is so well done, respectful, playful and satisfying to all the senses. To perform a song that evokes emotion...goosebumps,tears,warmth, that is what makes the whole album worth listening to once. The soul stirring this album causes brings you back to listen again and again. I saw her Television Special on GAC tonight and it was PERFECT.

I wasn't even aware that Faith had a Christmas album for release this year until I read an interview with her in a women's magazine at my hair salon. I'm not a diehard fan of Faith's, but I do enjoy some of her music.First, to address some of the reviews That mention that Faith does not sound like herself or doesn't sound very good: in the interview I read Faith talked about her first Christmas album and said that this album was an experiment for her. She loves Christmas music and was very excited to put out her own album.Faith also mentioned that she is an emotional singer and not a technical singer so some of the songs sung on this album are a stretch from her usual range or comfort zone. She enjoyed the challenge and wanted to put her own touch to some of these traditional songs. That said, I think she sounds lovely on all of these.My favorites are Joy To The World, Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town, Holly Jolly Christmas, and Winter Wonderland - for her vocals on these, but also for the arrangements. These favorite four of mine, with the exception of Joy To The World, have a slight musical "twist" to them. I really like these four the best.My least favorite is Away in a Manger. I don't like this song as much as others as I don't "feel" anything from that. I think she sings a little emotionless on this one (compared to others). I also don't particularly like the country sound to this one.All in all, I think this is a good Christmas album.

I wanted to listen to a “baby changes everything” and no one can do it justice like FH. This is an amazing album. I love her voice. I’m thrilled to have it on CD, but I’m old school.
