Perfect axe for any truckman
Iโm a fireman in Chicago. I am into firefighting and the tools it takes to do our job right. The axe used as standard issue in Chicago is the 36โ handled 8 lbs version of this axe. To me the 8lb head is unbalanced. Too long of a space between the bit and the handle. Making it off balance. The 6lbs 28โ handle is perfect and very well balanced. And 6lbs is plenty of weight. You get your power in the axe by swinging it. Not by using gravity. The 28โ handle is short enough to put in your truck belt. Long enough to get good leverage. Short enough to use if youโre straddling the peak on a roof. 6lbs is not too heavy for any fireman I know while not being too cumbersome to carry everywhere. If it is, lift more weights. The pick end of this axe is perfect. You use the rockered top end as a fulcrum to peel roof decking. To peel trim on doors and windows. To peel flooring. This is the perfect firemanโs axe.The only competitor Iโd say would be the pickheaded axes they use in LA โThe Fire Axeโ but their pick is way longer and doesnโt have as good of a fulcrum. And they are literally 3 x the price. The art of using the pickheaded axe on the fireground is becoming a lost art, as the halligan bar is the โcool toolโ now. But when youโre taught right by a legit old timer that knows the tricks of the pickhead, there is no better tool for the roof or interior overhaul operations. Halligan is better at forcible entry but thatโs another post โฆ be safe boys

A true man's axe
This thing is absolutely awesome. I keep one on my jeep for offroading/camping, but its such great quality I want to keep one under my bed. And to the guy who gave this a bad rating because his wife thought it was too heavy, get rid of the wife and keep the axe; The axe cant talk back.

Got it to speed egress from our bedroom inn the event of a house fire. My wife says it is too heavy for her to lift even though I got the lighter of the two fire axes offered.

Your wife is weak, not the axe Richard.
Accidentally bought one of these axes thinking it was a prop. I use it to split wood at my camp, great axe and for a firefighters axe very light. 10/10 will axe again.
