YN622N-TX TTL Wireless Trigger for Nikon DSLR Cameras

UPDATE JUNE 7, 2016: Used the full system at a wedding, the wireless controller and 3 different flashes mounted on YN622N Transceivers (two brands of Flash, too), mounted on stands, with D750 and also D810, swapping the Controller from one to the other as needed. System proved reliable in a mobile environment, able to control power at the camera independently for each flash. Tip: Label each trigger with A, B, and C to remind yourself at a glance when moving around the room. A huge time saver, and allowed me to think about creative use of lighting, not complexity of flash. Can set up a couple stands on opposite sides of a reception, for example, and reliably capture quality images while moving around the event with excellent results. I will add a second Controller, so that both cameras have triggers. - - - - - Off camera flash is daunting, but the benefit is undeniable for portraits, studio work, and creative lighting. With a proper mobile kit built around speed lights and triggers, even your work covering fast-moving events can benefit from off-camera flash. I've tried a few different options and so far this solution is simple, effective, and within budget. Simple review so far: Having just received this Amazon purchase, I just wanted to indicate that I have a Nikon D750 and the YN622N-TX flash controller works with D750, properly controlling and signaling to two different flashes mounted on Yongnuo YN622N Transceivers - set to different groups and power levels. I am able to adjust power levels, turn flash off or on, and confirm the proper zoom focal length of the lens mounted on the D750. Moreover, this detailed control is being done with two off-name flashes - an Altura and a very old Sunpak PZ42X. Both flashes indicate TTL compatibility. Do ensure the Controller is properly seated on the D750 hot shoe, you can hear the pins clicking into place when you tighten down the circular ring a bit and then slide the unit a fraction in the shoe. What I like so far: - Intuitive logical controls to select Channel, pick group A B or C - Adjust power levels for each group in increments of +/- 0.3, or in full 1.0 increments - screen is well lit, readable, even for older eyes - Line-of-Sight is unnecessary to reach your remote flashes. I was able to trigger flash in separate rooms with a few walls in between. - Uses AA batteries - Price. For about $130, you can get the controller and two triggers. Perfect for basic off-camera portrait work. I think this controller is even easier to use than Nikon's built-in commander Creative Lighting System. Your mind will appreciate reaching for the dedicated Controller to make all flash-related adjustments - faster, more intuitive -- and keep you from searching through your Nikon menu system. Have not done any firmware upgrades. Will take this system out to a few events over the next month. So far so good!

Thank you Yongnuo for coming out with the TX!! It is a no-brainer purchase and intuitive. It is an excellent complement to the transceiver products. Before this came out, I read and re-read and fiddled and re-read and fiddled with the related YN-622N transceivers that I had previously purchased. OMG! How confusing. The manual is written in Chinglish and very difficult to understand. Technical manuals cannot be anything other than spot-on! Argghh! Why do these companies not hire a genuine American (even British would do) technical writer??? Seriously, how much could it really cost for 6 or so pages? Yongnuo, if you're reading this, you're not fooling anyone. Pony up a few bucks for a proper manual and quit being cheapskates. Anyway, I had bought 3 or 4 of the YN-622Ns previously, so I was committed. I *liked* them because they were darn reliable. I have tried other off-brand wireless triggers and they failed me. These worked! But the adjustments that you were supposed to be able to make using one of the transceivers as a transmitter, controlling the other remote triggers was just incredibly complex (for what it should be). It was not worth it. I went back to simply using them as dumb triggers and hoofing it to each light, getting a ladder in some cases, then making the adjustments as necessary (in this case a light meter is mandatory). Then, ahhhhhhh (think Angels singing)...yes! The YN-622N-TX was released!! So excited I was! Really. It was beyond what I had hoped. Finally a product that works how you think it should (read: Intuitive). So many products and software programs are designed nowadays so poorly, it is aggravating. But the TX works like you think it should. And thank goodness, because I wasn't about to attempt reading another so-called "manual" from these folks. I have been using the TX, paired with 5 YN-622N transceivers and couldn't be happier...almost. Pros: It works as expected. You can remotely control all transceivers on the same channel by group A, B or C from this single device! Yes, like the Pocket Wizard Flex TT5/Mini TT1 with AC3 zone controller. It is super-easy. Cons: None on this unit. My only con is actually with the YN-622N transceiver (but I'm not writing a separate review for that). The power switch kinda sucks. It is too easily switched on when putting them back into my gear bag. I carry extra batteries, of course, duh! But I'd rather not have to use them because one or more units were inadvertently turned on when packing up or from jostling. It is definitely not a deal-killer. One just has to be conscious when packing one's gear. If you're a spacey artistic type and not a detail person, then this would be a big deal. The power switch on the YN-622N-TX, however is great! I think they realized their mistake and fixed it on this unit. It takes a reasonable amount of force to switch on and off. Enough so that it seems unlikely (and hasn't ever happened to me) that the switch will move without my consent. Overall, I am quite happy with this unit and the related transceivers. The price rocks! If you want to keep Pocket Wizard in business, go ahead and spend hundreds more for their product instead. Then you can brag to people about being a professional or semi because of your over-priced gear.

I was a skeptic as in the past have stayed pure Nikon, and most friends shooting use Pocket Wizards, but it seemed worth trying considering the excellent price point. I bought this, a couple YN622N's for my SB800's, and a YN685. In the past I had stuck with CLS and line of sight. This is SO much nicer, not to have to worry about whether the flashes will fire, did someone move something that blocked the line of sight. The controller itself models a commander display from a Nikon speedlight or camera, it is intuitive and easy to use once you figure out the buttons (the manual is mostly complete but horribly written so it is hard to use as a learning guide, but prior CLS experience is mostly what you need). I've used it in FP Synch mode (High Speed Sync) and it worked flawlessly up to 8000th both with the YN622N's driving SB800's and the YN685. iTTL exposure control works well, and it is very quick to add/reduce one light from the controller to get a better balance. I was a bit disappointed at the lack of slave-camera operation (where I can fire camera B by firing camera A, which I think PW's do), but that was not a big deal. It did everything I needed in terms of flashes. It does have fewer channels, so working in a photographer rich environment bay be an issue for some, but not me. But for any line-of-sight users of CLS still - it's a real feeling of freedom to not rely on that, and just know if you push the button the flashes fire.

If you bought this you already have the RXs. So no one needs to say how confusing it was keeping track of all the channels, level settings and groups etc. when multiple lights were involved. This does an excellent job of cleaning up that chaos. I was impressed at the visibility it offered into the settings and of the different groups. It also has a large user set of features. For budget RF controllers these will start to push the competition, perhaps even with the higher end items. BUT - They are not totally there yet. In my testing (which was practical application not scientific so there could be some unfamiliarity with the devices yet) I found that the adjustment of light in f stops and 1/3 f stops seemed to work very well in TTL and Manual, I have not tested the SS mode yet. Using the CLS and these in the same configuration with these in the configuration these seemed to be less light which meant I needed to add an f stop or adjust the camera compensation to get the same light. Not sure why this happened, however, I would take a test shot and if the light isn't what I wanted, I adjusted the light like always. The ability to keep track of the settings for the different RXs is the blessing here. I did have some issue with the firing of the flashes. There is an obvious delay if the flashes went into standby. you need to make sure everything is awake. Also as with any electronics if they loosen up even a little the firing can be intermittent. The range was a little less than the 100M (328 ft) advertised. I tested them at night, line of sight and started to get miss firing at about 200 - 250 ft. at 300 ft I got no firing. Maybe batteries in the RXs? They are older and used more than the TX. I also tested them in a studio environment with no line-of-sight and they worked well. The distance was less than 50 ft. There was no problem with adjusting or firing in TTL or manual mode. I have not exercised every option yet but this addition to the 622 TX/RXs is a great improvement. As I said I don't know yet if I do not understand something about them or if they occasionally do not fire for some reason but they could be on the verge of giving the big guys a run for the money. It also comes with 2 triggering cables for both the mini D and the 10 pin connectors. I have not used them yet. The manual is better than before but it can be confusing with some of the translation. I get the impressing they still might not be totally 100% reliable for professional work but if you don't want to spend over 100 dollars on each unit you should look into this. You could get 4 RX/TX and this controller for about the price of 2 of some of the others. I've used them for studio work with no problem.

I am strictly amateur, but I've found myself with a decent investment in lights, both hotshoe and monolights. Shooting with the flash off-camera and make a major impact in your shots, and the addition of softboxes or umbrellas (also off-camera) are yet another step to beautiful lighting. I have used Nikon CLS, and honestly never had a problem with it. I'm not crazy about the pre-flash, but it is rarely noticeable in shots. With that said, I still prefer radio to flash control, because radio allows you to hide flashes behind objects in your foreground. I've used cheap radio triggers in the past, but in order to control the lighting it's a pain to change power levels, especially if the flash is mounted on top of a 10' light stand. These units work perfectly as advertised. I can control 3 different groups of lights just like Nikon CLS. With this controller unit, I can control the power level directly from the menu on this device, with other YN-622N units attached to my flashes. I've used these YN-633N units with Nikon, Metz, and Yongnuo flashes and everything works as expected. The TTL all works fine, but as you get more creative with the lights I think manual settings or compensation will play a bigger role in your shots. I originally purchase a 3rd-party SU800 device for radio, very similar to this but it cost me $100 and it's LCD wasn't as intuitive as this one. Also, tha tmore expensive unit had to sit on top of a YN622N also, meaning it was physically awkward and even more expensive. I managed to replace that 2-unit setup with a single YN-622N-TX. I've experienced no misfires in any of my testing. I've controlled the power settings of all the flashes, and at one point had 5 hot show flashes (1 in A group, 2 in B group, and 2 in C group) controlled by this unit. I haven't tested extreme distances, but I have tested it through walls across my apartment, and I think few people will have any distance problems. Going through walls is more an issue for me than distance, as I doubt I will be shooting 100 feet from my subject. All-in-all, this product works perfectly for me, and is a fantastic addition to the YN-622N family. I no longer think it makes sense to buy those (other) cheapo ebay manual-mode only triggers.

This controller in conjunction with the flash triggers packs significant value that is simply awesome and hard to beat. You get nearly all the features the popular name brand systems offer at a fraction of the cost. In fact, I purchased one (1) Yongnuo YN-622N-TX i-TTL Wireless Flash Controller and three (3) Yongnuo YN-622N i-TTL triggers for less than the price of one (1) PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver (of course you need at least 2 PWs to make the system work). There are some (minor) tradeoffs. For instance you don't get PocketWizard's rock solid customer support, expertly written manuals, the 32 channels, or automatic mode (not the same as TTL) that the PocketWizards offer. However, the Yongnuo YN-622N-TX adds an infrared focus assist beam and pretty much everything else the PW's have featured for about 20% of the cost including High Speed Sync and Super Sync! I don't have any direct experience with PocketWizard's HyperSync feature. However, the YN-622N Transmitter DOES support high-speed sync and Super Sync and does a great job at it. Yongnuo calls it Super Sync whereas PocketWizard calls it HyperSync. They have different names but are the same feature that allow you to sync your camera with STUDIO STROBES wirelessly and achieve shutter speeds up to 1/8000 of a second. HIGH SPEED SYNC (HSS) vs SUPER SYNC (aka HYPER SYNC): High Speed Sync only works with certain speed lights where the speed light flashes REPEATEDLY to fully cover the frame with light as the shutter passes over the sensor at extremely high shutter speeds (above 1/250s). Super Sync (or HyperSync as PW calls it) works with almost any flash (strobes or speed lights) in manual mode where the light flashes ONCE but the timing of flash is micro adjusted to be “ON” most or all of the time while the shutter passes over the sensor. The longer the light stays on (measured in micro seconds) the better. SuperSync allows you to use more powerful studio lights or use less battery power from speed lights to shoot at shutter speeds up to 1/8000s. (You can learn more here: http://www.pocketwizard.com/inspirations/technology/hypersync_fpsync/ ) USING SUPER SYNC: To enable Super Sync on the Yongnuo YN-622N-TX you have to put the group you want to control into SS mode (it sorta looks like 55 on the transmitter) and adjust the SS timing to match your studio strobe with the opening of your camera's focal plane shutter curtain. Of course by default, you are using your studio strobes in manual mode (not TTL). I personally get tack sharp photos in Super Sync "SS" mode when my camera is set to 1/8000s and even below while using my White Lightning monolights. For my White Lightnings to work properly, I had to set my SS timing to AU (Automatic) or "0.2" speed. My camera MUST be in Auto FP mode to access shutter speeds beyond 1/250s yours may require the same. CHOOSING THE BEST FLASH FOR SUPER SYNC: Notice I emphasized STUDIO STROBES even though both brands can use Super Sync (HyperSync) with studio strobes or speed lights (in manual mode). According to my tests and PocketWizards words, "Speedlites and IGBT-controlled strobes may not be ideal for HyperSync, and should be used at full power for best results." This is due to the short amount of time that speed lights actually stay lit when the flash is fired compared to studio strobes. Also you will find that most speed lights don't have enough power to adequately light or impact a scene in many conditions at extremely high shutter speeds without being paired with multiple speed lights. To equal the power of 1 moonlight you would need 3-5 speed lights at full power, which makes this option expensive, more complicated to setup, and impractical for many users. (You could buy an Alien Bee B800 and Vagabond Mini Lithium battery pack to shoot outdoors for about the price of 1 Nikon SB910, which has 3-4 times less power and more risk of overheating or melting with continuous shooting.) Your success in setting up the Super Sync feature is largely dependent upon the type of studio strobes you use because both HyperSync and SuperSync take advantage of your studio strobe's T time, which basically is the amount of time the light stays on (measured in micro seconds). The longer it takes for the light emitted from your strobe to tail off the better or easier SuperSync will be to setup in this instance. However, the goal of many studio strobes, particularly IGBT-controlled strobes, is to shorten the T time to stop action and prevent motion blur. This short T time may make some strobes harder to work with or incompatible with Yongnuo AND PocketWizards (see more here: http://strobist.blogspot.com/2010/06/rise-and-fall-of-machines-understanding.html). You could probably still get them to work but it may require more time, patience, and tweaking. If you have something like an AlienBee Einstein (which is IGBT) you will probably find it easier to setup Super Sync if the strobe is set to Color Mode rather than Action Mode but we'll have to wait for someone who owns an Einstein to chime in. AVOIDING PITFALLS TO BECOME A SUCCESSFUL SUPER SYNC-ER: One negative thing I noticed with the YN-622N Transmitter is that when I turn the transmitter off and turn it back on again it resets the SS timings back to the default, which is "2.1". Its kind of weird since that is the ONLY setting that does not get saved when the power is off but not a big deal once you know what's going on. If you don't know what's going on you may think there is a problem with your camera or strobe since the timings are buried in sub-menu on the transmitter and are not immediately noticeable. The other downfall of this feature is that its hard to understand at first because the manual for the YN-622N is poorly written. The manual appears to be written by someone who does NOT speak english as their primary language. Most of the YN-622N features can easily be figured out without the manual (especially in comparison to using the receivers by themselves without this new transmitter, which is very hard!). The Super Sync feature is probably the hardest to understand using the manual and it is barely covered. However, you can find tutorials on here and youtube to make it easier for you. If you are having trouble understanding this feature or getting it to work I'd suggest you seek out other tutorials or just keep playing with the transmitter by taking a picture of a blank wall and adjusting the timing up from .1 until you see a fully lit image with no black stripe covering the frame. One last thing…When you use SuperSync to shoot a blank wall you may notice a slight gradient near the top or bottom of the frame even at its BEST setting. This is a known issue even with the PocketWizards because of how HyperSync / SuperSync works. (You can learn more here: http://wiki.pocketwizard.com/index.php?title=Clipping_and_Gradient OR HERE: http://wiki.pocketwizard.com/index.php?title=Understanding_HyperSync_and_High_Speed_Sync ). I believe PW has software available to correct this issue but you can correct it yourself by creating a reverse exposure gradient overly in Lightroom or Photoshop and save it as a preset to fix the problem. Or you can simply compose your shot to minimize the problem or take advantage of it (e.g. as a graduated neutral density filter). MY RECOMMENDATION: Beyond the minor points I mentioned, Super Sync works exceptionally well and will add an extra dimension to your photography. I have found the Yongnuo YN-622N i-TTL controller to be extremely reliable and easy to use. It has breathed new life into my Yongnuo YN-622N receivers. I purchased the receivers months ago and hardly used them at all because they were too complicated to control. Ever since I received the controller I have been constantly using the YN-622 set. If you already have the YN-622 transceivers for Nikon and don’t have the controller DEFINITELY buy this NOW. It will make things simpler and add new features like SuperSync. If you don’t have a wireless flash system at all and are comparing this to other complete systems BUY THIS NOW because you won’t find a better system at a better price.

Yongnuo has changed the game guys! I'm a semi-professional photographer with a disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis. A disease that causes the entire spine to fuse together, also extreme pain. Not just in my spine but almost my entire body. For so long it's been hard to shoot, either on-location or even in the studio. Having to get up and change my speedlites power and zoom was just too much on me. NOW!!! I can stay at my camera and change EVERYTHING! It's built so well, I was impressed. The buttons press firm and feel strong, and the screen is very easy to read. Working menu to great!! Very fast and easy to understand. The focus emitter seems to be better than the Yn-622Ns. My camera sees the focus lights and instant focus. And that on an old D300! Super Sync works like a charge as does everything else about it! I'm so impressed and normally wouldn't right a review. But I just had too! Change your shooting game guys and get this along with some YN-622N or course. Item was shipped much early than expected! Item was boxed very well and securely! Thank you EACHSHOT! Your the best!

Easy to use, and works great. I use it on a Nikon D750 with two SB-700 flashes, each with the corresponding trigger, mounted inside softboxes. One note, which is particular to the D750: The flash shoe has slightly different specs than other Nikons. The flash shoe on the camera is a bit deeper than normal. This will cause the unit to not work if it isn't aligned properly. VERY easy problem to solve: Slide the transmitter in place, rotate the locking ring just until in extends the pin, pull the trigger out very slowly and gently until you hear/feel the click of the alignment pin dropping into place. I haven't had even one mis-fire in a few hundred shots I've gotten to use it so far.

An excellent piece of kit. This is a wireless TTL controller which has to be used with compatible triggers so I use it to control two YN-62nn triggers, and it works seamlessly. The option to control power levels and flash modes from the the controller itself, without having to dive into and plough through my Nikon's menu system, makes life so much easier. it costs a fraction of the price of other well known brands and so far it's worked every time and I've never had cause for it to be out of range. It's easy to operate and even controls some flashes I have that that the camera body doesn't always get on with. If I were to be really choosy, the only thing I would've liked to see on the controller is a pass through hot shoe like the triggers have, so that I could have the option of an on-camera flash as well as the remotes, but that would be me being greedy lol All in all, an excellent piece of kit but you will have to buy at least one YN-622N trigger or wait until Yongnuo bring out a flash with a built in compatible receiver (who knows, there might even be one out there already!)

Also bestellt und super schnell geliefert.
