Simply brilliant
At the beginning of the 1980's I was a massive Gillan fan. I went to see the band on every tour from Glory Road to the Magic tour. Forty years later I decided to replace my original vinyl version of this album on CD and it sounds as fresh as it did all those years ago. Tracks like 'Are You Sure', 'No Easy Way' and the amazing Colin Towns intro into the album's masterpiece 'On The Rocks' fill me with the same exuberance as they always did. For years after leaving Deep Purple, Gillan had been trying to find the right musicians and after some patchy albums in the form of Scarabus and Clear Air Turbulence he finally gained ground with Bernie Torme, John McCoy and Mick Underwood joining him and Colin Towns for the excellent 'Mr Universe' album, displayed the right chemistry with a strong batch of songs. 'Glory Road' took it up a notch and displays Gillan (the band) in full flight. The bonus disc from the original freebie 'For Gillan Fans Only' are a cool addition and tracks on it like 'Abbey For Thelema', 'Higher and Higher' and another Colin Towns showcase 'Dragons Tongue' make it a worthy listen. If you don't already own any Gillan albums this and the aforementioned 'Mr Universe' will make worthy additions to any rock collections.

gillans road to glory
had album years ago, loaned it out to so called friend-he never returned it, the dirtbag. Anyhow now got it cd, good album,"unchain your brain" high tempo opener. Classics like "nervous","running white faced city boy","on the rocks" never disappoint. 4star marking due to disc not mastered sharp enough could of been a bit cleaner clarity wise.Nevertheless a good album ,good extras (for gillan fans only cd & factual booklet) well worth the money.

Super
It' was one of the first hard-rock records I bought when I was young.I'm glad I could find at Amazon this record on CD.All the tracks put me back when I was young and I could remember every song.So far as I know, It was the first solo-album of Ian Gillan afther the end of Deep Purple. The songs are amazing, nice composed and demand your attention from the first guitar-stroke to the last.
