one of my all time favorite books. you will love both lead characters
one of my all time favorite books. you will love both lead characters. they were perfect for each other. lots of hot romance, excitement and suspense. this book grabs you from the first page on, and holds on to you, until you don't want to put it down at all. I even had to take this one to the bathroom with me. didn't want the book to end. If you like historical romance like I do, you will absolutely love this book. strong proud Indian male, white redheaded spoiled female. story takes place In Colorado, around the 1860's. this book will NOT disappoint you.

All Available from One Seller
Final Susan Johnson book (in a group) I purchased from this Seller. I desired to re-establish my Susan Johnson Collection for My Library. Each has the same Cover Art of those I originally owned (highly desired). All books are as described. Would do business with this Seller again.

Disappointed
I am very sad to give a book by Susan Johnson only 2 stars. I love her stories & the time periods they are set in. But when you think romance novel, you assume there will be more intimate scenes, more sexual & romantic elements. This book lacked. Toward the end the book is drawn out far too long. Hazard doesn't trust Blaze anymore, will hardly speak to her- but then suddenly they are as they were before, without him allowing her to offer an explanation. It's all very frustrating. I don't know if I would recommend this book or not. Both characters are desperately in love with one another, so at least there's love in the romance novel.

Almost but not quite!!
Having read Silver Flame and Forbidden before this I was very interested in the infamous couple that came before the children - and while I enjoyed Blaze and Hazard I felt the stories of Trey & Daisy much more erotic and compelling. For Johnson this was pretty tame. And the reviewer that mentioned unresolved issues-I agree, what made Hazard all of a sudden forgive Blaze that night in bed - and really why did he not have more faith in her to begin with - it is not like Hazzard had as so many men issues of trust. Still in order to complete the series this is a good compliment book and a good solid 4 star romance.

Blaze
O read this book when it first appeared in paperback, fell in love with it and many other of Susan Johnson's works. She has a very clear and easy style that puts the reader in the story as if said reader was there in the flesh. Charming, well written and unforgettable.

Stick with it
If you can get through the first hundred pages of really bad writing, I think you'll enjoy this book.I agree with a previous reviewer that it takes quite a leap to believe a woman of 'good' breeding would behave as Blaze does, but if one chalks it up to the folly of the first 6 chapters, one can get over it. Eventually BLAZE setled down into a good read with a sensible plot, villainous villain, heroic hero and a really enjoyable romance. Ms. Johnson has the ability to write sizzling sex, but oddly the most passionate scenes in this book happened when the h & h were angry with each other or when there was very little emotional commitment. If I was recommending this book to a friend I'd say skim the first 75 pages until Blaze agrees to negotiate with Hazard and then settle in for the read. It's worth it.

Old school Susan Johnson!
3.5 stars. After all these years of being a huge Susan Johnson fan, I finally read Blaze!! To tell you the truth, the reason why I didn't read this book before is because I was never really a big fan of the Native American Indian romance. The storyline just never appealed to me. I hate reading historical settings in which a set of ignorant people feel like they are superior to others because of the color of their skins. I know it's never really the hero or heroine, but it still annoys. That's why I stayed away from American historicals for so long. I just recently got a backbone and started venturing in that territory. I still can't deal with slavery being involved in my romance though. I know it's naive but I read to get away from all the crap that goes on in this world and that's one period I hate reading about. I have a tendency to sympathize with the injustice of the secondary characters in that setting more than the leads and it takes away from the romance for me. Anywho, this is SJ we are talking about here, so I knew no one was gonna make my hero feel like he was less than. And Hazard certainly lived up to the expectations! He was magnificent! I said this before and I'll say it again, no one writes a hero like SJ! Talk about a drop dead gorgeous hero! This was a nice read. Not a five star read for me, but it kept my interest.I loved Hazard and I loved Blaze and the chemistry between them was scorching hot, but 500 pages was a bit much and the storyline was a little unrealistic. I never really understood how keeping Blaze captive helped him with his claim and Iespecially didn't buy that her father and all his male companions, in that day and age would have let her go up into an Indian's cabin alone to negotiate a deal. Puleeze! Also, I wished that the hero didn't have other kids because he never saw them or mentioned them much, so it seemed like he didn't care about them, and it only put him in a bad light in my eyes. I wanted to smack him! What about your 3 other kids dude?! And did anyone else notice that him and Blaze didn't get married for real! Tell me if I missed something, but It was only in the Indian custom that they were married and all he had to do was say she was his wife! No ceremony, no paper signing, no nothing! Get the heck outa here! I want a real wedding my friend! All in all though, I'm glad that I gave this book a try and I loved seeing the old SJ in action once again and it reminded me why I loved her.

Basically a good book, spoilt only by too much farce.
A good book. The "crisp" white shirts have mercifully been omitted but instead crisp sheets turn up 3/4 s of the way through.Susan seems to lose the plot around this area and the story line falls away but does pick up again.Half way through it would have been unequivocal 5 stars.
