Shadowland

So i'm going to sum this up pretty quick. If you are a daredevil fan and have been reading daredevil up to this point, including the bendis, brubaker and diggle run, you will hate this. The art jumps around, the story is atrocious, and I don't even blame the writer of this Andy DIggle for it being bad. He clearly didn't want to write this but marvel made him. If you are working your way through daredevil just skip this and jump into the waid run. Trust me you aren't missing anything.

They went pretty far out there with a character(daredevil) that was always fairly grounded in reality. The story was well paced and there were lots of great marvel camios but without reading the daredevil companion book this book would be terrible, so just be aware you should have to buy both this and Daredevil shadowland to get the entire story. It has its moments of greatness I just hate seeing grounded characters be taken on this direction.

Wasn't expecting much when I got this since it had the "street focus" and all. However the book took me on a joyride as it portrayed Daredevil's descent and the street level heroes attempts to prevent it. Ghost Rider makes an awesome appearance as well. The novel, unlike many Marvels, does well as a standalone title. However, if you have read the List and dark avengers it will be enhanced. At the same time reading shadowland increased Big Time Spidy for me. All in all one of Marvel's best event books and pretty unique against the grandiose, world changing events of the others. Nevertheless, we do get a hint of it in a discussion of politics with Thor cap and stark in avengers tower. HAHA AWESOME READ made me feel like I did when reading the best Batman comics.

After taking over the Hand, Daredevil dons a black suit, murders an enemy, and establishes a new set of laws in Hell's Kitchen: one that has no room for cops or other heroes. Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Spider-Man, Elektra, Shang-Chi, the Punisher, Moon Knight, Wolverine, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, the Kingpin, Bullseye, and Ghost Rider all guest star.

I was very much looking forward to see what direction the "Daredevil" books would take following Brubaker & Bendis's runs. However, I wish that I could reset my GPS and turn back around and resell this awfully written piece of garbage. Andy Diggle is just terrible. No creativity, no cliffhangers, and thus, no interest. I would rather watch "The Green Lantern" movie 5 more times than this. At least with that travesty of a movie I don't have to use any brainpower and I can just put my mind on auto-pilot. This book is like a bad foreign flick w/ subtitles. Not only do you have to sit through each terribly drawn sketch, but you actually have to put forth some work to decypher the crummy artwork. Too bad the text doesn't do anything but validate the shoddy non-descript drawings.After years of being treated to Bendis and Brubaker, we get left w/ a guy who's name is about as creative-sounding as his writing prowess. Brubaker and Bendis should come back and in subsequent books create Andy Diggle as a new villain just so they can kill him off. That would be the only win. Disappointing, predictable, and I blame this book for the Recession.

I own 1 Daredevil title and it was written by Frank Miller which was amazing, so I'm not a huge fan. Once I read Shadowland and Daredevil's attitude in the 1st chapter of this epic story I knew it was something special. This graphic novel displays how the line between hero and villan often blends into a grey area and can lead down a path of justice and lawlessness at the same time. This was a great story and the art complimented the story perfectly.

Shadowland presents the darkside of Daredevil, the art it's really good but the story it's a little slow and empty, If you love Daredavil and Billy Tan art then you must have this.

Not the best I've read lately (as I have read a lot of good stuff recently) but, it was a good enough story. Bit of a wishy washy ending, and, I'm baffled with regards to Moon Knight. What was the point of his cameo?
