JB4959 Drain Sweep

worked good. but one of my pipes was pretty old and a little rusted. and this thing busted a hole through it. i cant completely blame the product for my old pipes. but just a warning if you have old pipes i wouldn't use this. Also it was too fat a fit in a few of my drains.

When I got it, I it looked really flimsy, and it still does.Today had my first clogged sink that didn't respond to 3 attempts different liquid plumbers, and a plunger, and this worked well, and cleared it in less than 10 min . Without it I would have had to call a professional plumberFor the cost(13$ when I got it), even if it worked only once, WELL worth it

I got this to clear my shower when it got blocked by the usual gunk. This device proved totally ineffective in clearing the shower. The problem seems to be when you pull the trigger a set of 5 plastic strip expand outwards - but this is too narrow for my shower drain and it doesn't reach the sides. So everything just slips down around the side of it when I pull it out. I'm sure it must be grabbing some stuff, but it simply wasn't staying attached.Maybe for narrower pipes it'll do a better job, but for me it has been worthless.

Hard to bend to get the first 1" into drain - but once I did -magic happened as it cleared away my trouble - Get this brush as well as the plastic strip tool ... Both are cheap and easy. This unit had a plastic handle but did not really make it easy to turn the bristles for rotational . Its more up and down type action .

I bought one of these, and like others stated who gave it a 1 star review, one of the plastic pieces broke immediately on me. I used it nonetheless, and it worked great actually, even with the broken piece. Was a bit of tight squeeze into my bathroom drain, but it's flexible and I was able to maneuver it in and out. I used it about 6 or 7 times, and then the whole thing busted (all the plastic pieces broke off). Came here to amazon to decide whether I'd buy another or not. I'm figuring if I get 5 uses out of it, it will beat the price of Drano, so I'm thinking I might go for it. Will see if there is any similar device first, with better ratings.

It looked so easy to do but I had a hard time with it. My daughter had to help me and it really didn't clear the drain pipe like I was hoping it would do. I had to use liquid plumber.

for the simple hair clog if it doesn't do the trick a call to the plumber should be the next step

This gadget includes several thin, flexible plastic strips that bow out to scrape the inside of your drain pipe. When I received my Drain Sweep, I squeezed its trigger a few times to understand how the thing works. One of the plastic strips broke then.In actual use, the plastic strips are under much more stress than that which I subjected them to. The plastic is therefore likely to break and get stuck in your plumbing. This is not a pleasant situation. It might require disassembling your sink trap to get the broken parts out.I strongly recommend against the use of this product.
