RemoPP-0950-BE Emperor Coated Tom Drumhead Pack - 12", 13" & 16"

This is a wonderful set of Tom heads for the price. They are very durable, and they don’t take long to break in. Once broken in, they sound fantastic and can be tuned to almost no unwanted overtones. I also like the not so smooth texture of these.

My son loves them, he says the reverberation when hitting them is shorter.

The Tama Cocktail Drum set I play is great for gigs in small rooms but they came with Evans heads which sounded horrible. I replaced all heads except for the bass with these and "Wow!" It sounded so much better. The toms took on more resonance and a deeper tone. It is much easier to tune the snare and there is a greater range of sounds that I can get from a snappier taut sound to a much looser fat snare sound. This was not possible before I used these heads. Finally, my brushwork is much improved because the snare head has more grab to it so the sound of the brushes is more "swishy" and louder. If you think you may be held back by your current drum heads, these heads may be a great way to up your game without investing too much money.

Remo Ambassador coated heads. After all the other brands I have tried, I come back to these every time and I am never disappointed. Simple, single-ply, easy to tune, and consistent.Follow-up 9/3/14: On the latest set of coated Ambassadors, I am seeing faster than usual degradation of the coating. The heads are on toms so they get significantly less use than my snare. The older coated head on my snare (maybe 4 years old now, used sporadically but with many hours of play) is still coated although the center of the head is turning smooth which is usual. On the latest heads the coating is completely gone down to the mylar. I am not a heavy player and do not play with heavy sticks or nylon tips. Just something to be aware of. I reduced my rating down to 4 stars since the drums still sound good and I do not plan on playing with brushes on this set.

Always used Remo in the past and still do. Just a great product. Had the clear pin stripe and recently changed genre to jazz/blues and wow what a difference in the sound these coated single ply make. That old retro sound fits perfect into what I’m playing these days.

These are the perfect heads for my style of sounds they produce. I ordered here on Amazon lower priced because the box was not included. The heads are totally new. I got a great deal.I highly recommend these heads. They are great sounding. I would purchase these again.

I played drums for 20 years with a Pearl set then a Gretsch set. I gave them up while raising a family. I started playing again a couple years ago. since I didn't expect to do any professional playing this time around I bought a low end set. All the tuning tricks I had learned over the years made them sound ok, but never good. I bought a full set of these heads and suddenly my <$300 drums sounded almost as good as my old Pearl professionals. All the ringing and echo was gone, and a rich mellow sound burst from these drums for the first time.

Coating on the 16” is damaged and has a spot missing right in the middle of the head and another spot missing toward the rim. Just took it out of the brand new plastic and haven’t played it yet.

Replaced full kit as had clear pinstripes batters and stock resos now for years and were looking a bit battered. Replaced with coated emperor batters and coated ambassador resos as wanted a warmer more controlled sound. Works great and very happy with purchase. Easy to tune and to sound great and had exactly the desired effect when switching. Time will tell on durability but my experience previously has been great with remo.
