I received this as a Christmas gift, but had it in my Wish List because of the reviews it has received. It appears to support more video/audio types than any device I am aware of. But... there ARE SOME BUTS. I had about 125 ISO files that I had made from my DVDs already on a hard drive. AND YES it plays them as if they were the actual DVD. With chapters working just as the DVD. THAT is what I wanted! But unfortunately the Audio and Video are so far out of sync that the videos are un-watchable. On my Win7 Computer, the .iso files play perfectly AND in sync. Also, it appears this device is out of production. The last upgrade to the firmware is VERY old and most of the forum where you might get help appears to have been taken down. I'm not sure where Amazon got their hands on these units, but if you were expecting to buy one of the wi-fi dongles to go with it, you might have to buy it from someone in Australia... that's where I found mine (then I discovered I could buy a RealTec dongle here on Amazon that works for $12.99). I am seriously considering returning mine to Amazon...This is an update to my earlier review...An AC Ryan representative had replied to an inquiry by me on their blog, saying that my problem may be that I had the "bitrate" sic set too high. At first I thought he was talking about the audio bit rate and I didn't see any way to control that in the Playon setup... then I realized that what he meant was that if the "VIDEO" bit rate was set too high, it might cause this problem! I have a new Samsung TV and I had set the TV type to 1080P 50Hz. So I tried several of the different TV settings, since my TV could handle most of them. I could definitely see the difference! The biggest difference seemed to be when using Progressive Scan versus Interlaced Scan (obviously that drops the processing bit rate for the Playon by a factor of 2). 1080i was much better than 1080P (i.e. less delay between audio and video). I really didn't see much difference when using 720P... it was almost as bad as 1080P, as you might expect. The problem does not go away at 1080i, but it may be "tolerable" to some people. Unfortunately, I think this device is showing its age and cannot meet my expectations. I would not recommend it and I am reducing my rating to the lowest allowable. Anybody interested in a wireless dongle from Australia hahaha?
