Daido Moriyama

I would be lying if I said I didn't buy the book base on the cover shot. Until now I have only heard of Daido's work and seen only some of his more famous shots in exhibitions in Japan and here at home here in Malaysia. So I decided to buy a few books of his work to see what he is really about.This book has a good selection of his work and each goes along with captions that describes what was the story behind it to a limited agree. It certainly helps the reader understand the mind of Moriyama and how he had perceived the world.It should be noted that this is a small coffee table book, so small I figured it would have been one of those big table top coffee books. It makes taking it along with you on long commutes or coffee breaks relaxing. Just be careful about showing the cover, I already got into trouble once as people thought it was a porn book (I live in Malaysia)

One photo for one piece of paper. Meaning one photo every time you turn the page. And the descriptions are so elementary and have no insight to the Daido or what it is in the frame. Sad book. The only reason I give it two stars and not one is that it’s hard cover, I like the cover, a few of the photos are nice.

This is great book. A nice introduction to the edgy Japanese photography of the 60s and 70s. I didn’t know it was a pocket-sized mongraph though. That might have been my bad though.

It’s a small but very good introduction to the work of this great Japanese photographer - good printing and great images !

Small but great book. Love his work, and this is a great collection. I do wish it was bigger, though.

I’ve recently discovered Daido Moriyama. Very intriguing, exciting, erotic, childish, confusing.This book is going through early decades of his work. Well selected photos, good biographical information. The size of book is on pocket side but otherwise good quality.

Handy size book with a good selection of images and clear text introducing the work of Moriyama to the reader.

Peccato che il formato sia troppo piccolo. Buono come primo libro per conoscere questo autore giapponese, buoni anche i commenti a fianco di ciascuna foto.
