Viking Kubb Game Official Tournament Set

This game is incredibly fun-- I will assume if you're here you already know about Kubb because it's hard to stumble upon it unless you literally come across people in your local park playing it, as I did.I will instead talk about the contents of this particular set. The bag is sturdy and fits all the pieces well, but is not embroidered like the bag advertised. The pieces themselves are well-formed but made from a lighter, more dent-prone wood than the set I played on in the park that fateful day. The King was cracked when we received it and sure enough chipped the first time we played. I am not unhappy with the quality of this set but for the cost and the cost relative to other sets, I would have ordered a different set if I had known better.

My group of friends has been addicted to kubb for a few years now, so I finally bought my own set. The game itself is fun and versatile- no game is exactly the same and there is an element of strategy, which makes it more fun than bag toss or ladder golf in my opinion. The rules may seem confusing, but once you actually play it a couple of times it is easy to get the hang of- the best way to learn, naturally is to play with someone familiar with the rules. Seriously, who knew throwing sticks at blocks could be so much fun!?Re: the Official Tournament Set:At first I went to the hardware store, bought some 4x4s and dowels and made my own set out of cedar. This worked decently, but then my friends got really serious about kubb, competed in a couple tournaments and then picked up an official tournament set. The dimensions of the kubb blocks are in centimeters, naturally, and smaller than 4x4s. Also the throwing batons are much thicker than the dowels we were using. Once I played with the official set I knew I could never go back to my crappy home-made set.Plus! Old Time Games is a great company- they even donated several sets to my friend who hosted a fundraising kubb tournament. So I feel very good about buying from them and recommending them to others. For beginner kubb players, the cheaper non-tournament set would be fine, but you'll probably find yourself becoming addicted and wishing you bought the heavier duty set!

We played this game with relatives for the first time while visiting them in Germany and we were hooked. We now have a group of those same relatives coming to visit us here in the States and had to purchase a Kubb set for their visit. This set is awesome. It has everything you need and is high quality. The carry bag is much better than i expected as well - to be honest I expected a cheap bag that wouldn't last long but this carry bag is durable and strong. Overall this was a better value for the money than I expected. If I could have given it 6 stars i would have,

A great lawn game where even watching is exiting.Old Time Games, Inc. makes a great set that conforms to U.S. Tournament Kubb standards (you can find the official tournament rules at:http://www.usakubb.org/resources/Rules/US_National_Kubb_Championship_Rules_v3.0-updates4.1.pdf .)There are some interesting rules and variations, but everyone will pick it up as they play.Ask for an additional set of boundary makers as it is important to mark out the centerline for King positioning and tossing field kubbs.

The set is the official set and is very well made. The wood is a bit soft and will easily dent but that's bound to happen. The bag easily fits the pieces. One of my batons is noticeably heavier then the other 5 which is a bit annoying when trying to be consistent, but otherwise, the set is what I was looking for.
