Its seems to be good quality. Only complaint is the the adapter that holds the pencil or pen you put it, the little tightener on it fell out on me once and man was it a pain to get back on.

We tried five compasses and kept this one. Worth the money and has a ton of flexibility. I think it’s a purchase that could last many many years.

Used maybe 4 times and already broke. The pencil holder never stayed in place. Such a waste of money.

Excellent quality material, easy to use and worth paying for its excellent item After spending money on cheap plastic compasses this type of staedtler is worth it, a good addition to the school supplies for middle and high schoolers.

Reg Flags: Quick Adjustment is ok, could be better Build Tolerances is not the greatest. Beige Flags: The price you are paying a premium for the name but not an extreme premium the price is a little higher than one might want but I do not regret it. Feel and shape. Is good but not the most comfortable in my hand for long use cases. TLDR: Cost is slightly high but will last a lifetime and the quality and wide range of uses does help smoothen the purchase.

There is nothing worse than reading mixed reviews of an item and deciding which reviews are using poor judgement. The major complaint from the poor reviews are the screws won't tighten. If the screw was stripped, then they received a defective item but that's unlikely. Possible, but unlikely. In order to tighten the screw, one most hold the screw in place with the thumb, while tightening the nut. Otherwise, one will have troubles tightening the compass needle or the pencil. Once you figured out that piece of engineering, then you realize, it's not the compass, but the user. Given most of the compasses, despite different brands, are exactly the same design (then there is no avoiding this little piece of engineering) . The other complaint is that some of the compass is plastic. It doesn't require Einstein to examine both the marketing photo's, and the features listed at the top of the page (plastic and metal) to know what you're ordering. It's dishonest to complain that it's plastic after you ordered something that is listed as partially plastic. There is no play in the plastic and it's sturdy. There is a vast difference between, I don't like it and it is defective. Conclusion: Compass works fine. No issues with accuracy. You'll find youtube video's with individuals creating great geometric art with this compass. But for what it is, I think it's a bit over priced so I took a star off as well as not having any directions that tells you how to tighten the screw. It wasn't obvious to a couple of reviewers and I had to play with it to figure it out.
