Will this tester show a pass or fail result as soon as the remote is plugged in, or do you need to hit "test" to get it to start testing?

Accepted Answer

No it will not show previous results, It will only show the actual results and once disconnected that data is lost.  On the other hand once you turn on the unit it will start testing.

Question 2

Is this unit using capacitance or tdr to measure lenght?  i know the pro using tdr.

According to the Ideal website in the models section the Pro has all of the previous model features and in addition to that it has TDR and some other features - Features

Distance to Open / Short (TDR)

Ethernet Detection with Network Rate and Duplex Information.

It also says on the features page that the pro has tdr - 
"Accuracy
The flagship VDV II Pro utilises TDR to accurately measure cable length and provide distance to fault information. "

I would assume this means that the plus does not have tdr, but that is a guess.  The manual for the Plus model mentions the following in the length measurement section, "... Accurate length measurement relies on correct setting of the capacitance per unit length (C) of the cable to be tested."

Does this kit come with the case and the 6 rj45 cable tracer objectors?

Yes it came with case , and inside the case there are a handful of cables for testing. But I recommend to get the pro useful things like voltage measurement and other stuff

It does not provide printable output of any kind.
