I like that the screws are small enough that there is no worries that they will stick out through to the other side. I also like the spring mechanism and the solid feel when locking. I don't really understand the negative reviews especially about the "tiny screws" which to me are more of a convenience even if it does require more care in assembly. Excellent product.

Bought in Sept 2025 for $13.88 pretax. These are well made latches. Most of the similar small latches seem to be made of thin stamped sheet metal. These are solid cast or machined pieces. The hook part is not free-spinning, it has a spring inside that holds it in place. So when you lock it, it won't undo by itself just by moving the box around. And just so, when you unlock it, it stays that way also and won't re-lock by gravity, movement or whatever. The screws are quite small, so be cautious not to tap to wide or deep. --- They did a pretty poor job of showing the dimensions so I will do that for them. Other than that, these are perfect for small boxes and projects.

Perfect! My husband makes bird houses. He uses these latches for the clean out door.

The latch was easy to install. It looks pretty and is more hefty than the other types I bought from stores. However, the latch is probably iron as it started rusting (I use it for outdoor). There is also a problem with the alignment as the part with the hole is lower than the latch part. Maybe it is by design, I don’t know. Overall, the price is attractive enough that I don’t mind using them for small projects.
