The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need

Worth it and fun
Very cool book. I know nothing about astrology. But this book is easy to read. Easy to follow and lays everything out in an easy to follow way that builds onto the basics. A lot of fun. First day having it and I’m already half way thru. The book lays flat nicely and is large with wide pages and wide print, so you don’t feel overwhelmed by tiny print or pages packed with info. Something fun I think to explore with friends just for fun conversations even if you’re not a big believer. I would recommend it or buy it again.

AWESOME! Kudos to the author! 👍🏻😊
Wow. This book took me by surprise. It lives up to the title 100%! So complete. So well-written. So easy to understand and implement.Hats off to the author! Well done!!The reference charts in the back make it SIMPLE to find all of the planetary locations for the time you were born…it goes far beyond just identifying and defining your sun, moon and ascendant (rising) signs, and assists in finding other specific planetary locations to pinpoint exactly who you are at a granular level. With this book, you’ll be able to draw your own chart with all the planetary locations (Venus, Mercury, etc.) with ease (and trust…it’s super fun and satisfying to create your chart with your own hand). It’s therapeutic! You won’t need the assistance of a astrologer or even the internet.I’d recommend using highlighters in the book for ease in re-finding applicable info (you’ll probably go back and forth a lot, like I did), and also, buying colored pencils for drawing the houses in your own personal chart will make your finished product really fun to look at. Truly…I’m a nitpicky, precise Virgo and I was astounded by this book. It is crazy helpful and it’s SO descriptive. I’ve always wondered why my husband and I are so compatible…because looking at just our sun signs (me, Virgo…him, Sagittarius), we aren’t considered the best match. BUT, Virgo is an earth sign, and his moon is in the earth sign Capricorn…and Sagittarius is a fire sign, and my moon is in the fire sign Aries. (I know…I’m about the oddest mix there is, but it describes me to a T!) I also learned that both of us are Virgo rising…and the two of us share other planetary similarities too, the more I researched. This is an incredible resource to have. Honestly, I’m blown away!!

Very good, but updated software is worse
I got the 2001 edition of this book a number of years ago. I may not believe in astrology, but I find it fascinating in various ways, including the psychology of each sign. And this book was really wonderful, as it took a look at the influences of each planet through each sign and explored different possible aspects of human beings. So I liked it for that. And when I found out there was this updated version, I decided, "why not get it?". Actually, I just got this item today. Now the 2001 version was the one with the dark blue cover and had a single zodiac wheel on the front, as opposed to the light blue one here with the wheel split in half. The other immediate difference is that this new version is square shaped rather than the usual rectangle, so that's a little disorienting. Not bad, but it's something you have to get used to. A quick look through it shows that much of the book is the same as far as the text for signs and planets, but I didn't expect huge changes there. Some of the celebrity pictures are different. The new editions still explores each sign, and their strengths, weaknesses, and how they work, and that's still really entertaining. It stimulates the imagination. I can't really say how good it's instructions are for chart casting or interpretation, as I never really worked with those parts too much. One other major difference you should be aware of is the software. I tried it not too long ago. Now the old 2001 edition came with a CD for it's own birth chart program. It was pretty simple, and it didn't interpret the chart for you, as some other reviewers have said. But then again, that's probably good, since letting a machine interpret something like that can be hard, since it would just be stringing keywords together. Interpretation might be best done by a person. But the program for the new one is terrible. First, it doesn't come with a CD. You have to go to the website of the publisher. The sticker on the cover shows the way. There you will see a link to the program. Now that's not a problem all by itself. Now some of the other reviews said it wasn't working when they tried it, but it is now. Though I find it strange that it wasn't already working, because something like this should have been operational by the time the book came out. The program is definitely for this addition, as the background uses the same cover art. And it seems to work pretty much the same. You first have to enter a name, a date of birth, a place, and a time.So I played around with it, and entered some random data. But it doesn't work completely. I believe another reviewer said that the program doesn't work for those born in the southern hemisphere. I believe that is still the case. One of the test cities I entered was Tokyo. When I entered it, the program offered no suggestions as to coordinates, something the original always did, unless it couldn't recognize the name. And even though I filled all the blanks, the create button didn't work. I tried this with other cities, same result. For other cities up north, it worked fine, just like the original. But here's the thing, the original didn't have this hemisphere problem. I still have the CD version on this computer, and entered the same data, and it worked fine. And here's another problem. With the old CD version, the result of the data was a single circular chart with symbols and your data in a left handed column. It's the same here. But the font is so very tiny, I can barely make out some of the symbols. And the color contrast is terrible. The symbol of Mars is yellow for some reason. And while the original did have a white background to parts of the chart, this new one is much brighter, making it harder to read. Some symbols are printed on the divisions of the chart. Other symbols look like squiggles. Also, with the old one, if you clicked on the symbols, a text box would open, usually giving you numbers and references in the book where you could read more. It was a simple idea. For the Midheaven one, you got a paragraph. Really, it shows how it was integrated with the book. For the new one, there are also text boxes. But they are harder to get, taking multiple clicks on these tiny objects to get them. When they come up, they just have names and numbers like "Sun 172_453" or something to that effect. No references at all. And the numbers can vary each time the same box comes up, like one time it's 127, then next it's 273, or something like that. You can type in them, but it's pointless, becuase there is no way to save that, only to close it. The old program also tried explaining the house system or let you print the chart. Here that is not available. And the old one saved data too. If you make a chart under the name "Test One" and started up the program again, and typed "T", it would fill in the name "Test One", along with the rest of the data. Here? No. There is also no way to save the chart image and make it bigger. I tried.I do recommend the book. It's good reading with interesting insights. But the new software isn't worth it. It seems like it is either glitched or incomplete, which again is very strange. The publisher doesn't even say it's under construction, just points you to it like it is fully functional, but it isn't. For whatever the old software could do, it was still better than this.
