Product Description BITCHIN' is the aural thunderclap that is THE DONNAS' brand new record, an unapologetically anthemic hard rock album. Their luscious locks must have been a fourway blur of headbanging fury at this recording session. Thirty shout-along, swaggering rockers were slimmed down to an album-length fourteen tunes, all written or co-written by THE DONNAS' and co-produced by Jay Ruston (The Polyphonic Spree, Meat Loaf). Bitchin' will be released on September 18, 2007, on THE DONNAS' very own Purple Feather Records (available through Redeye Distribution). desertcart.com Gone from the ranks of the major label (Atlantic) that signed them, the Donnas return on Bitchin' to the ranks of indie rock while still reaching ambitiously for stadium-proportion rawk. From the leather trousers and dope-smoking feather on the cover to the album-opening chowder of slow kick drum thumps and chunky feedback-glinting guitar riffs, the Donnas are after the arena-rock vibe. And this is the stuff that made arenas churn in the 1970s, retro, yes, but potent. They go for AC/DC's simple one-two rhythms, the brawny choruses that became FM radio's signature, and lyrics like this: "The first time I saw your face/I got wasted on your love." Yes, it's reductionist as indie rock goes, but Bitchin' is also exhilarating--the chant-like vocal choruses, the guitar effects, the more-cowbell enthusiasm, the hands-in-the-air pacing. The Donnas are clearly looking to keep rock & roll a collective experience, the stuff, again, that made arena crowds pump their fists through blue smoke all those years ago. --Andrew Bartlett Review: rock on girls!! - this is the first cd i've bought by the Donnas. I've heard a song or two of theirs and thought it was cool. So i bought this one and i love it. Lots of rock non stop coupled with nice vocals, guitar play and just an all around great record by the girls. I dont have any of their other stuff to compare to this one. I just know that i love what i've heard off of this cd and its cool that its on their own label as well being to bring out music that you want and enjoy. Nice title for the album name as well and some pretty cool rocking songs on the cd actually. Just about every song on this one is play worthy over and over. Review: Great highway music - I just bought the CD a few days ago and I'm beginning to think that this is my favorite Donnas CD. I drive 45 miles to work and I have been cranking this CD the past few days. With the exception of maybe 1 song (I'm not a huge fan of "Here for the Party" it seems to plod along for a song with that name)the CD rocks from front to back without skipping. Sure it may not have "the" single or two that say "Spend the Night" had but I'd say it is definitely a better overall album. Kudos. I love this album! It sounds like a lost 80's hair metal album fell to Earth.

These girls can rock!!!
I've been listening to the Donna's since the late 90's and in that time they have become one of my favorite rock bands. This album is by far their best and one that any fan of 80's party rock or heavy metal garage bands must have. While their previous albums tended to be a mixed bag of really great songs and songs that were mediocre at best, you won't find any of that on Bitchin'. I can't think of a single song on this album that doesn't rock. I put this on my mp3 player or put the CD in my car while driving to work and just put it on repeat. I can't even guess how many times I've listened to this album since it came out. I have recommended this to everyone I know and no one has been disappointed.

headed in new directions
The Donnas always used to stir comparisons to the Ramones. Simple chords, basic lyrics and sharing the same name will do that, and I never thought that was a fair comparison. Well, it's also inaccurate now as the Donnas have gotten heavy metal on us, or at least headed in that direction. Sort of like the Lunachicks but without the foul mouthes. Gone are the covers featuring the cute little girls. Instead we got a leather covered rear end and a heavy metal font. I'm OK with bands growing and changing, and the songs on Bitchin are a bit of an evolution over petty high school jealousies. But I wish they would have stayed pure rock.

Fun, catchy and addicting.
Late to the party, me. Listened to these gals a little years ago and thought they made some fun, interesting music, but never really let them into my musical listening realm until recently. Not only do they rock hard, but the guitar is catchy, the vocals are sweet and the bass & percussion is amazing. This CD is full of tunes that will have you bobbing your head and tapping your feet. Can't tell you how many times I have listened to the same song several times in a row, just because they're fun and a true pleasure to listen to. Watch some of their live stuff that fans have put up on YouTube. I'm hooked!

i cant stop listening to this cd
i am still fairly new to the donna's music the only other cd i own is "spend the night" and while that cd is catchy and rocks hard bitchin is like that cd fully realized. all the songs are catchy and will be stuck in your head long after you turn the cd off. (trust me i know. "save me" is especially hard to stop hearing) if you love the donnas and female rock bands in general (id say they are more like "veruca salt" than a harder metal band like "kittie") get this cd it rocks hard.

Fun songs, but a step down from Spend the Night and Gold Medal
Some songs are catchy and rock nicely, but a few have very forced lyrical rhymes. The production quality is satisfactory, but definitely a step down from their prior 2 major label releases, Spend the Night and Gold Medal.

Great selection of songs if you enjoy the Donna's
Very good price below $10 with shipping. Great selection of songs that are more rock related then previous Donna's music. I enjoy listening. 70-year-old male.

Un disco che presenta un suono più maturo ed un rock più pulito rispetto ai precedenti lavori comunque mantenendo la stessa potenza.

The Donnas prove that they're one of the most consistent and talented female rock acts around with this next evolution of their sound. If you've heard Gold Medal then this moves on from that more mature sound to provide an even stronger collection of well-crafted tracks. Heavier and more intense than before, some tracks are darker and reveal completely new areas to their repertoire. But the best thing is that with all this development they still haven't lost any of that old appeal. The spiky, suggestive and witty lyrics and one-liners are still there. With this the Donnas have, for me, finally succeeded in losing the last aspects of immaturity and become a complete, and at the same time outstanding good, rock band. Keep an eye out for the card with the activation code in this limited edition as it allows digital downloads of the songs and also a bonus track from their website!
