Mama and Baby! (Indestructibles)

This is a perfect, comforting book for babies with a small, but growing vocabulary. Caregivers can talk about how animal mamas love and care for their babies. They can describe the environments different animals live in.

At about 5-6 months old my baby developed an insatiable taste for paper... she loved to crumple it, crunch it, wad it up, and put it in her mouth. After a couple of Sundays with corners of church bulletins chewed off and wads of soggy paper pulled from my baby's mouth in my purse, I knew we had a problem.The "indestructibles" books seemed like the perfect solution. At first I thought it was too good to be true, but I bought one to try it out anyway. Sure enough, my baby product tested it like a star. She tried to rip, she tried to chew, she tried to moisten the pages in order to rip and chew by sucking/gnawing on the book for extended periods... all to no avail! Even after being jammed in the diaper bag and crumpled by other toys, these books remarkably retain/rebend to their original shape. And to baby, they look and feel and SOUND like paper!Overall, GREAT quality product, beyond DURABLE, and great pictures to boot! (Though, for our purposes, this part was truly optional) Some reviewers have complained about the lack of words. I was a bit disappointed by that at first too when I first flipped through the books in a store, but then I realized, "Do I really need a book to say 'Deer' for me to point it out and tell my baby, 'That is a deer!'" Likewise, with some of the Nursery Rhyme varieties of these books, I KNOW the Nursery Rhyme, and my grabby chewy baby rarely has patience to sit and listen to a story in sequential order anyway... and when she does, these probably aren't the books we're reading! (Again, I bought them for the indestructible quality) That said, I do like the themes, the rhymes, and the multi-culturalness of many of the books in this series.The book does exactly what it claims to do and beautifully so! But, one caveat...If your baby likes to eat paper like mine, you may just be out of luck. After she realized the book meant it when it said 'Indestructible' she set it aside and went right back to eating her sister's school work and my church bulletins!

These books are AMAZING. I feel awful taking my daughters books away because they chew and gnaw on them. They love looking at the pictures in board books but I just can't have them eating paper all day! A friend told me about these and I plan to buy the entire collection! My girls can now look at the pretty pictures, chew, bend, and attempt to rip these apart! I love the colors in the books, I think it's great detailing for them to look at. While I understand and enjoy the idea of making up your own story, it would be nice if they decided to start printing some books with a story in them. That doesn't affect my rating of them though! Oh and it's AWESOME that you can just throw these in the washer or dishwasher and they're clean again! My daughters love these books and sit on lap to "read" them all the time!Edit September 7, 2013:We've had 4 of these books for quite a while now and they have stood up to the destruction my now 2 year olds have attempted on them. They chew, bend, attempt to tear them and can't! I've put them in the washing machine many times and they've come out great every time. Only one of the four books binding is coming apart (it's kept together with some type of thread), but it's not really an issue for us.

My hard to please 6 month old absolutely loves this toy. It is truly indestructible though it does look beat up at this point. The pictures are colorful and really sweet. All my babies have loved these books. All babies long to get their hands on books and this one is perfect for them to try to destroy (to no avail!).

It becomes one of my LO's favourite.

My kiddo loves these books. This one is cute, but has no text, just pictures. She still enjoys trying to destroy it!

I love the concept and that the kids can’t destroy it. But why is it only pictures and no story ?

(For those of you who are like me and like a short and to the point review. If you are looking for lengthy details, alas that is not me :)BRIEF OVERVIEW:After my baby (who LOVES books) started sinking her new little teeth into her books I started the hunt for books that I wouldn't have to stress about her having as her afternoon snack. This is a wonderful book, bright pictures (although no words - which is fine the books with words I read to her and don't have to worry about her eating while I am around), and most importantly this book lives up to it's name, she has not destroyed it as of yet.WHO IS THIS BOOK FOR:Little ones like mine who love books and love to eat them just as much as read then.THE BOTTOM LINE:Would I recommend this book? YES!PS check out my other reviews. I'm a picky first time mom that has spent a lot of time and energy (and $$$) researching and buying some great (and some not so great) products for my little love.

I got this book for my babies before and now keep buying them to every baby I know. This one have no text so it's really "first" one, but later I bought much more with texts. Wonderful and indestructible seria. My kids (4 and 5.5), raised on these books love to read. We do not need force them to "reading time" Opposite, we need to switch off the light and announce sleeping time :P

The perfect book for babies 🫶🏻

Las ilustraciones son muy bonitas, pero el libro es MUUY fácil de doblar y arrugar. Si bien resiste las babas de los bebés, las hojas son muy delgadas y queda fácilmente arrugado. Me parecen mucho más indestructibles los clásicos de cartón grueso para bebés

Génial! Mon bébé, 9mois, assouvie enfin son envie de mordre/suçoter les livres sans qu'il ne s'abîme! Des tonnes de bave et toujours intacte ! On en a deux, j'ai une préférence (et mon fils aussi) pour celui qui présente des aliments ("Baby, let's eat"). Mon fils ne s'intéresse pas vraiment au contenu (très beau cela dit).
