Final Harvest: Poems

If you are looking for a book to read on a rainy day and you're all alone, Final Harvest is the book for you. This collection of Emily Dickinson contains her best poems. Each is deceptively short. When you read a poem for the first time aloud, you will think you have gotten her rhythm down perfectly, and then BAM; you reach the end of a line to find a slanted rhyme, an almost rhyme, a word choice that will blow you away. Her poems reflect how she sees the natural world, life, love, loss of love, death in all its manifestations. I still have my original copy of Final Harvest that I used in college nearly fifty years ago. It is one of my most prized possessions. She will open up a brand new world for you: inside the mind of a language genius, a keen observer, a tiger in a tiny frame.

I love Emily Dickinson's poetry. She was a recluse but she noticed everything about nature. I think she did fall in love with someone. She wrote two knowledgeably about the subject not to have known the emotions herself.

I purchased this book for a class, but I will definitely be using for my personal use. This collection of Emily Dickinson poems displays the poems in the forms that they had before being submitted to editorial pressure. This edition replaces the lost capital letters and hyphens that are characteristic of this poet. I recommend this to anyone who wants the real Emily Dickinson in her most maddeningly puzzling form.

This is a collection of just some of Dickinson's nearly 1800 poems which the editor, T.Johnson, published in the "Complete Works of Emily Dickinson". I have both, and have read them extensively. All of my favorites are in this collection. I have read it, and carried it with me, so often that the book is becoming worn. I will replace it, soon. Since E.D. never titled her poems, the collection is indexed by each poem's first line. This has been an effective method for me.

Ordered a $8 1961 hard cover with jacket in very good condition as described and shown in photo, but Got paper back in good condition (highlights and notation in margins) correct edition. It was a graduation gift so there was no time to correct the issue.

a really good book to have

Inspiring in ideas and questioning, poetic of course, sad as a real life. Her family did not realize how good she was to provide the publishing and personal support she needed. Fine acting and the main character gives a sense of reality of it's life. I think she felt lonely and too responsible for others.
