Mirror Dash Cam Dash Camera for Cars, Backup Camera with Night Vision Full Laminated and Anti-Glare Display, 1080P Dual Dash Cam with Streaming Media (BOSCAM R2)

I just wanted to update (05-11-2021): We loved this dashcam so much I bought one for my car. Night vision is wicked spooky good!!! I did make a change on placement - velcroed the cam itself to the dash instead of attaching it to the rearview mirror. Reason for this is with the truck, since the rear camera is on the tag, we couldn't see the truck bed when we had something back there (ie, appliance, wood, trash, whatever). When I bought the second one to install in my Kia, I tried the velcro setup in it to see how it would work. I needed access to my rearview mirror so I could keep watch on the dogs when I carry them around. We liked it so much, I moved my husband's down to his dash also. He is a lot happier with this setup also. I already have a backup camera in my Soul, so I put my rear camera up in the hatch window - attached to the underside of the rear brake light - and it works great at that level.The quality of video is amazing! We haven't tried the night vision on it yet - haven't gone anywhere at night...LOLWe had to get creative with wiring for the rear-facing camera as we have a pickup truck, but we got it done. It gives a better view of what is behind you than you get with the regular rear mirror.The "speed odometer" was irritating (!!!!!) but I figured out how to turn that off with the help of the manual - love a manual that actually helps LOLWe love the time and date that shows, but I wish it also had compass directions. I bought it for my husband as he has a hard time backing up (getting that old stiff-necked disease LOL) and now I want one for my own car!!!This review is after about a three week trial period and it passes muster!!!Thank you, BOSCAM, for getting it to us despite the quarantine issues that came up just after I ordered it. I appreciate all you had to do to get it done.

I've been putting off getting a dash cam for quite some time, mainly because I kept thinking I want something "more" than a basic dash cam. My car doesn't have a backup camera or an in dash screen, so I also needed a solution for that. When I first ran across the integrated mirror/dash cam/backup cam I was excited but I became gunshy on buying one due to cost of the "name brand" products. As with many electronics, I figured I should dig deeper into the not so name brand and focus on their qualities and reviews. This one stood out and I gave it a try! I was super impressed with everything this unit comes with; every piece of hardware you could need to install and plenty of cord length to hide cords professionaly. Installation was very straight forward. Picture quality is great, menu settings have everything I could want, and the basic mirror is functional. Security modes, driving mode, backup cam and gps really make this the type of product I was looking for (A truely integrated product for all your needs). One tiny gripe I have, is that my oem mirror is very large, and this product doesn't quiet cover it all the way! I think I can make due though since the product brings so much benefit to me. Thats on me for not measuring my mirror first to compare to the unit before buying.

if your rearview mirror is 10" in length, the mirror cam will not fit perfectly over your mirror. The reason is, because the mirror cam is also 10" in length but you have to account for the camera needing room. Even with the camera being slid out to the side all the way i would not accommodate. What i had to do was purchase an 8" mirror and replace my factory mirror, once i did that problem solved. It now looks OEM to the vehicle, see the pictures above. installation after modifying the mirror itself was a breeze since i already had a wire ran for power from a previous cam that did not work. I purchased a mini usb to usb c adapter and it works great. video quality is great as well. the gps used for keeping track of your speed is not 100% accurate its off by two miles per hour. overall its a good product thus far, will update if anything changes.

The parking monitor mode in a dashcam is supposed to be a low power mode that you can leave on the unswitched power supply without draining the car battery too quickly.This dashcam claims to have a parking mode but it has no effect on power consumption. I measured the draw: With display at maximum brightness: 9.5W, Minimum brightness: 5.2W, Diplay turned off: 4.2W, Dashcam turned off: 1.6W.You would expect that the 1.6W is the parking mode where only the G Sensor and minimum electronics are maintained, but that's not the case. The dashcam never turns on when shaken. The G Sensor only works when the dash-cam is on. But then the 4.2W are drawn regardless of parking mode being turned on or off, so it makes more sense to just let it record normally, at least then you would also see other events like if someone keyed your car. Listing parking monitoring as a feature is false advertisement. If you still want to let this dash-cam work when your car is turned off, I recommend to use a hardwire kit which has both an automatic voltage and time cutoff. And I'd recommend to set the cutoff voltage to at least 12.0V and the time limit to 12h to make sure that your battery is not deep cycled which would greatly reduce its life expectancy. Don't use any of the kits with a fixed 11.6V or even 11.2 cutoff, that's close to a dead battery, you would never want to go that low. Or just buy a more suitable dashcam with a real low power draw parking mode.Apart from this the camera is solid. The version of the Sony sensor isn't the newest but still does well in low light environments. The reactivity of the display is ok, but sometimes lags and you need to tip twice. A nice touch is that you can have the display brightness adjust automatically to light conditions. The big redeeming quality of this dash-cam is the mirror when the display is turned off. It's the best I have seen so far. Many mirror dash-cams have low quality mirrors that create doubling of lights and at night it's hard to figure out what's going on behind you. This one does not, the image is darker than your normal mirror but remains absolutely clear.
