Great backpacking stove
Great backpacking stove! I have also used to on canoe trips. You don't need to bring any fuel just toss in sticks etc. Also I recommend taking some cotton balls dipped in Vaseline and store them in a old film canister or similar container they work great as a fire starter.

I love how this stove lights and burns easily
I love how this stove lights and burns easily...without the fan when wood is kind of dry. I wish the fan attachment had an even lower speed. Such a great way to cook.

Highly recommended
I bought a Sierra stove on a trip to the US when I was in the army over twenty years ago as a survival /back up cooker on military exercises in Germany. It`s the old model where the battery clips onto the base with another clip for a spare. After leaving the regular military I continued as a reservist & I used the cooker whenever I could. When I had the time I would take my kids camping & I taught them how to use it. I am still using it today & look forward to teaching my grandkids how to use it. A simple but very efficient piece of kit that no backpacker or camper should be without. Highly recommended.`Later addition`. I forgot to mention that I had an old boot polish tin, large size in which I kept my firelighting material. This fits snugly into the bottom of the firebox when all packed away. You can also use a Trangia burner or similar which sits on top of the polish tin in the firebox which acts as a windshield, you then have an effective spirit burner as well. I had this cooker in my bergen which was thrown about in APC`s & other military vehicles. The cooker took some very hard knocks but never let me down. An excellent all round lightweight cooker.

Invaluable Solid Fule Camp Stove
I own an older version of this stove and it proved invaluable on numerous bikepacking and backpacking trips. Canoeist Cliff Jacobson turned me on to this stove. The zip stove has clever design in which uses a battery powered fan to improve the burning of solid fuel (wood or charcoal.) This stove can make a hot fire fast- possibly faster than propane or other gas. Very simple to run. Once the fire is going just set a pot on the tabs at the top of the stove. Some of the accessories you can purchase give a bit more stability to a pot. My only qualm about it, which is inconsequential, is that it was bit too large to pack on multi-day backpacking trips. Fortunately, they also produce a smaller and titanium made version.
