Donny From Teen Idol to the Disco Era
Donny is continued covers of the 60's hits plus Donny's first song writing on "Ours". Disco Train is the attempt to cover disco in the 70's. Actually on this album are 3 disco-like songs, and the rest are fun upbeat dance songs. (yes there is a difference in my opinion). Again, Donny O fans who are looking to collect everything, this would complete your set. The only one we are waiting for now is Donald Clark Osmond on CD his last release on Polydor, which will be another review when that comes out, we hope (hint hint hint)

EVEN DONNY DOESN'T LIKE DISCO TRAIN
So I'll keep this short and sweet. The first half of this CD, "Donny" is your typical Donny Osmond album of the day. A bunch of cover songs from the '60s and one great song written by the Osmonds (or some of them). In this case "I'm Dyin" is the most interesting song on this set. "I Have A Dream" is the only other song of note on this. Donny gives a good soulful performance of this song written by Soloman Burke."Disco Train" is NOT a complete train wreck. I think Donny sells this album short. Yeah, the cover is horrid, but the music inside isn't all bad. Yeah, "Disco Train" and "I Follow The Music (Disco Donny)" are truly putrid, but "C'mon Marianne" and "Never Gonna Let You Go" are actually pretty good. Now, I adore "Old Man Auctioneer", always have. The Osmond Brothers (Alan, Wayne, and Merrill) have written some great songs, that one included. "I Got Your Love" is another awesome song on this CD. "Can't Put My Finger On It" sounds like a typical disco-lite song of the day. Meaning, it could have been found on any album by any artist trying his or her hand at disco. Not a bad thing. The difference is that Donny can sing. So all in all, this is NOT a bad CD. Just badly dated.

Gotta love Donny
I had both albums separately as now I get them together in one... Awesome!! Disco train is different kind of music but if Donny sings it it's gotta be awesome!! Love this cd...

Disco Train is better
I ordered this because I used to listen to Disco Train when I was little over and over and over. The other CD included in this set, Donny, is just okay - I didn't know many of the songs on it. Regardless it's all good from a nostalgia perspective.

Une très belle voix, de bonnes musiques, quel dommage que le succès en France n'est pas continué pour Donny OSMOND qui lui, a continué une belle carrière

An interesting combination of Donny's talents
As a fan of old, it seemed important to me to own this CD. When I began listening, the "Donny" LP started playing, and I was disappointed to hear old covers done in the usual syrup that I had forgotten Donny did in the 70's. It was okay. Then the "Disco Donny" tracks began to play, and suddenly, I woke up and started to listen! What a pity this was not the genre that the fans of the 70's (including me at the time) wanted to hear from Donny! While disco may be dated now, I still enjoyed the energy and funk that Donny so obviously enjoyed belting out. There are some tracks on the CD that could make their way up the radio charts even today! This LP was a huge flop, but I think with a bit of tweaking and modernizing, it could be an enjoyable CD to even the hardened teens of 2012. It is important to realise that Donny wasn't taking himself seriously in the making of "Disco Train", and the fun comes through. Buy this if you're a hardened fan, but buy it anyway if you want to reminisce about the bounce of the disco era.
