This MX5 Exhaust was designed for RACING. In particular, this muffler was designed for the autocross and track MX5 Miata drivers. It may also appeal to some MX5 Miata owners who want a simple and proper single sided Miata exhaust. Let's face facts, dual exhausts on a straight four cylinder Miata is a ridiculous waste of weight. Mazda talks about gram strategy in the development of this new Miata but they wasted a lot of weight on duals that provide no performance benefit and lots of extra weight. Yes, this RACE exhaust is on the LOUD side of our choices but what the racers need to know is that max recorded db usually 85-88 db at 50 feet....well within all track and autocross limits and low enough that many will run this MX5 exhaust on their daily driver and love it. Just 8 pounds means this Miata muffler is almost 20 pounds less than the stock Miata muffler! How do we do it? By using a higher than normal perforation rate on the straight through super high density core to get maximum sound suppression with absolutely minimal weight. This eight pound Miata exhaust compares with 19 pounds for our RoadsterSport Miata Duals and over 26 pounds for the factory exhaust. Great bang for your buck!
Excellent muffler for the car. Absolutely love it! Gives a great tone and puts out just the rights amount of sound to me for a muffler change only. My age is 27 but I don't like my cars super loud. I will end up doing the whole exhaust and header as well, which will make the car pretty loud, I imagine, but I think the performance difference and more pure sound of the motor will be worth the sound level. Easy installation. Uses no special hardware besides the stock rubber exhaust hanger supports. Exhaust tip sticks out about 2 inches beyond stock exhaust and sets the back end off. Don't hesitate. Buy this one!

I love it!
Installed on my 2009 Mx5 with stock midpipe and header. I took off a GWR RSII exhaust and replaced it with this. When I first put it on it was LOUD! But after around 500 miles it toned down and sounds amazing! If you like a louder exhaust this is the one for you. It has a nice tone from outside the car and a nice roar from inside. Quiet when cruising at a steady rpm on the highway(almost like it isn't there). Can't beat the price or the customer service of Goodwin.

I have a stock drivetrain on my NC other than this exhaust. It sounds great. Noticibly louder under acceleration or deceleration. Makes it hard to save fuel. I want to hear it.Install was easy. After I got the stock exhaust off the hangers... Two bolts and all done.
