The journey to 100 friends begins with a single conversation. Socially anxious high school student Shoko Komi’s greatest dream is to make some friends, but everyone at school mistakes her crippling social anxiety for cool reserve. Luckily she meets Tadano, a timid wallflower who decides to step out of his comfort zone in order to help her achieve her goal of making 100 friends. It’s time for the school trip to Kyoto, and even though Komi has never been on one before, she’s not worried. After all, she’ll have Tadano and her friends at her side! But then she’s assigned to be buddies with two girls she doesn't even know. Is Kyoto ruined, or will Komi be able to make new friends all on her own?! Review: Kyoto School Trip Partner - Love the series. Great book. All in English and in black and white. Review: School Trip - Volume 8 of Komi Can't Communicate continues the adventures of the cripplingly shy teenger Shoko Komi and her quest to make more friends. This volume, which contains chapters 100 through 113 of the story, is mainly about a school trip to Kyoto. Along the way Komi has a chance to explore a new city and meet new people. I found that this volume continues the enjoyable characters, premise, and humor of the previous volumes. This is bolstered by the introduction of some new characters including the narcissistic Naruse and the rather introverted friends Kato and Sasaki. The overall story continues at an enjoyable pace. While Komi still acts like her usual shy self, she also is forced to act more on her own as she is separated from Tadano during the trip. She also starts to realize that she has feelings for him. As with the previous volumes, I found that the artwork here is top notch with its usual detailed background art and expressive characters. In conclusion, if you have enjoyed the series so far, you will enjoy this installment as well.

Great series
This is a wonderful series. I've often seen social anxiety treated as a joke, where those characters are made the butt of jokes but this one does not. While it's a comedy series, Komi's anxiety is treated with gentleness and the other characters are the targets of the humor, all while still being her friends. If you're looking for a nice read that will make you smile, and occasionally laugh, I highly recommend this one.

I have so much fun reading this series. #TEAMKOMI
Komi is just so darn cute & completely adorable. So shy & demure. I envy the boy, to be so close to the school princess. And what's this? She's coming to accept that she has feelings for him, greater than just friendship. I truly hope love blossoms between these 2. They are perfect for each other, & both are longing to be accepted, & to be loved. They deserve happiness. Art, just fantastic. Dialogue, very real, very good. Characters, believable, likable, relatable, enjoyable.

Really excellent high-school manga
I've been following Komi Can't Communicate since volume 1 and it continues to excel. While there is the usual cast of wacky classmates, Oda keeps the focus on Shouko Komi and her desire to make a hundred friends, assisted by her perfectly average classmate HItohito Tadano. Oda hints that their friendship might be developing into something more, but who can tell with teenagers? Very entertaining, especially to those of us who have been or are socially awkward.

Another hit
Just a great series overall. The interactions between characters, the drawing style everything about these books complement each other. Love the everyday life mangas and this doesn’t disappoint.

Komi in Kyoto.
Out of all the various manga I've read over the years, I still can't believe I overlooked one as good as this. Now I'm hooked.
