Who thought this up?
Well made, other then that, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. There are any number of better, safer lanterns / bio mass stoves out there. Not a good base camp lantern, not good for emergencies, large open flame, bulky fuel source, (you really going to carry pellets when you go camping), limited burn time. Nothing more then a novelty item, (an expensive one).

Great for backpacking/Camping!!!
I've had the StoveTec Firefly Lantern for a little over a year and have taken it on several camping trips. It works great for cooking, coffee and as a tabletop lantern. I love the fact that it does not require propane. If you run out of the pellets, twigs from the campsite work, not so lucky if you run out of propane. With regards to what the negative reviews have said, a simple wipe down removes any soot that forms on the glass. We love the Firefly and often recommend it to friends and family!

FireFly Latern. Awesome
Hey, I just had a chance to use a FireFly Latern. I really enjoyed it. It was easy to assemble, and within minutes it was ready to go . Can't wait to use it on my hunting trip this December.

StoveTec Firefly Lantern Flop! Review Product Online Before Wasting Money!
Misleading claims by manufacturer. This product does not run on biomass fuel as stated, it operates on kiln dried commercial pellets and fuel accelerants required to start it. Found biomass fuel (twigs and scrub) results in inefficient combustion causing lantern glass lens to form soot coating that eliminates lantern function. This lantern is not ideal for backpackers, why would a backpacker want to have to carry commercial kiln dried pellets and fossil fuels in the backcountry. Numerous other objective online reviews concur. Lots of low cost, reliable lanterns available at a fraction of this poorly performing, high cost item.
