The Beginner's Guide to to DaVinci Resolve 16: Learn Editing, Color, Audio & Effects

This is NOT for beginners, as the description would state.I was expecting a more general overview of the program before jumping into a very specific and detailed step by step process of an edit in the newest, and likely least-used-by-a-beginner feature of the program (the Cut page).I found it very difficult in many places to relate the text to what I was seeing on my screen. Some of the descriptions seemed a bit ambiguous or confusing. I had to hunt around for the places pointed out in the timeline so much that it made me lose concentration about what I was supposed to be doing. Many times I had to guess whether I was in the right place or not. An illustration of the area in question would have helped a lot. I also had trouble finding some of the command icons on the screen, without some sort of hint as to where they were located. Very tedious and frustrating all around.I got about half-way through the first chapter and decided it was better for me to go back to YouTube where I had been since I started getting interested in Resolve. At least I could tell where the instructor was pointing and what was being manipulated by them as I watched.Disappointed!

I used this book to learn Resolve as I was working on my first editing project. It was a pleasure to work through, and I learned a lot. If you want to save a few bucks, you can download the pdf for free (from BlackMagic Design, the makers of DaVinci Resolve).

Kindle version is terrible. I'm completely lost after Sync Bin section (first chapter)

The book was helpful to download the program and appreciate the pictures to edit.. The book is difficult to follow and understand. The videos were much better to learn the program.

If you want to learn Resolve, this is the book for you.

A good reference and tutorial, clear and to the point. I buy one for every major release of Resolve.

Very helpful! Comprehensive and good for beginners. But I found out after that you don't have to buy it because it's free for download at their website. Hahaha. Thanks tho.

The book comes with downloadable lessons. Although each lesson says 90 minutes of time required, you will need more time if you are not familiar with the program and where to find all the different facilities. Maybe combine it with some too the excellent YouTube that are produced by the same people.Excellent value. You need this if you are new to Davinci Resolve.

I didnt read all of the book. I found it long winded, as its best to follow through from start to finish with tutorials.
