Great medium size chopper! Light weight. Great control. Tough design. Sharp from the factory. Great warranty.
Out last chopper was a traditional, slightly longer wood handle axe, the brand of which had long since worn away. I got tired of trying to find a comparable handle that wasn't made for kids and ordered this when I saw amazon had a lightning deal for it, as our 36" Fiskars splitter has held up very well. I'm starting to understand how Fiskars can justify a lifetime warranty on a product that takes the kind of abuse an axe is subjected to. The design is so simple, yet incredibly efficient, no doubt cheap to produce, but surprisingly strong. And they come from the factory much sharper than traditional axes. With some leather gloves to keep the plastic handle from slipping out of sweaty palms, the axe feels even more ergonomic to hold than our 36" Fiskars splitting axe, and expectedly lightweight. The 28 inch handle felt a bit short at first, but was quick to adapt to and affords fantastic control for smaller diameter cutting: logs that are too big for a hatchet or knife, but too small or dry for a maul or long-handled splitting axe. I can swing this thing all day without tiring. And this actually came from amazon with the protective plastic storage handle pictured, unlike the last Fiskars axe I ordered from Target's site that just came with a disposable blade-edge cover.

Razor sharp 3 years later! Best Axe ever
I started out with a hatchet from Fiskars (the x7) it is an amazing little axe but wasnt good for big logs or trees. I wanted something for backpacking trips in heavy winter in northern california. This axe was the perfect addition.Someone laughed at the hollow handle telling me it would break. I love the hollow handle, great for storing fire tinder or a fire starter rod. This Axe is no joke, its razor sharp even after 3 years of moderate use. Only chipped a tiny piece when i hit an embedded rock in a tree. Cut down a 16 inch diameter tree with this solely, in about 20-30 minutes was taking out 3-4 inch chunks with each swing. I tried other axe's of the same length that would just bounce off the tree no matter how sharp they were, or they got stuck in the wood making you bend the handle back and forth to get them out. not this axe. Has the perfect angle head for chopping at a tree. Comes right out of the wood when buried in it. Havent tried it as a splitting axe much but that wasn't its intent. Ive kept it sharp with a stone, holds a nice edge for a long time. Did a mention its super lightweight? i dont even notice it on my backpack other than when the handle hits my legs. The plastic carrying case/ blade protector is nice, it securely locks the axe head in place and gives you the perfect place to put a carabiner to your backpack.I could totally see myself with this axe 20 years from now lol Provided you dont lose it. it does blend well with he forest floor almost left it once.

can't be beat for the price. Very easy to maintain.
These are great axes. I was skeptical about the plastic being able to stand the abuse an axe takes. It has held up well now after several camping trips. The best part about this axe is how you can sharpen it. The axe has a very distinct edge profile and the beauty is you can use the edge as a guide with files and sharpening stones. Its really nice because you don't have to find the right angle like normal axe edges. Its similar to how you sharpen a scandi grind knife if you don't know what i am talking about watch a youtube video on scandi grind sharpening. It works the same way as this axe. I can get this thing so sharp it shaves arm hair just like a knife. You might be wondering why i would need an axe so sharp ? It makes doing fine work much easier with a sharp axe. Like carving notches in big logs or chopping out a rough profile fora wooden cup. Another nice thing is how much lighter the axe is. Its really nice with an axe sling i forget i am carrying it. Its still got enough weight to be effective and i do not notice much difference in performance from my high dollar gransfors bruks axe.

There is little comparison between this guy and the best axe that could be purchased at the orange big ...
I've used this little beast to chop down 4 trees in my backyard, one of which was about 18 inches in diameter, and then to chop them into 15-18 inch logs. There is little comparison between this guy and the best axe that could be purchased at the orange big box store, which was promptly returned as this one was ordered. This axe seems to be 3x more effective than the $30 Husky that I returned. Fiskars engineered this lightweight axe to chew through wood, which it does admirably, and with steady, easy swings. I've struck the handle several times against wood, with force, and it has only caused minor blemishes to the surface of the plastic handle. It seems very durable, and I feel that I've already gotten my money out of it. The blade keeps an edge well, but I highly recommend that you pick up Fiskars sharpener, which has served me well. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000950Q4/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_67

Great axe - a bit on the small side.
This is a fantastic axe, well designed, well balanced with good steel that keeps an edge. The shape of the blade keeps it from sticking while chopping yet cuts pretty good chunks away. The holster is nice. I bought it to chop roots of trees that I am removing. So I’m chopping into sand. Look at the picture of the blade after a day of chopping into sand - looks pristine. Not sure why some people with the Fiskars axes have complained about them chipping. Why only four stars then? Because the sweet spot for a chopping axe is around 32 inches, unless you are a really small person. I am only average height. It’s too small. It would be OK for an emergency axe you keep in the back of your truck for occasional use, but it’s just not long/big enough. I normally wouldn’t review on the size of an item if I know what it is ahead of time but they don’t have a bigger chopping axe even available, which is mind boggling. They have a 36 inch splitting axe but that’s a completely different tool. They REALLY need a 32” chopping axe - scaled up a bit from this little thing. I even wrote the company and they couldn’t explain why their biggest chopper is so small. I also have the hatchet which I am pleased with.

Good buy for the money.
I have some small trees I needed to cut down, and since chopping wood is great exercise, I decided to use an axe. Solid unit, comes sharp as all Fisker products I have bought have. It’s light but I actually like that part. Light axe = Conserve energy for more chopping. Still cut through 10” locust trees in no time. Time will tell how it holds up, but if it’s like my fisker hatchet, I think it’ll do just fine.

Very sharp & light, made in Findland
Very sharp out of the box. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was made in Finland as most things on Amazon that say "Imported" are from China. Axe was very solid and I was able to clear a downed tree off the trail I was driving down with ease. I have also used the Fiskars X25, which is a 28" splitting axe, and can say this is easier to swing than the X25 so you don't tire out as fast with only a slight difference in cutting depth when chopping wood. I used this chopping axe to split some smaller fire wood and it performed well. Both the chopping and splitting axe do both tasks well (Chopping & splitting) so you can't go wrong with either one. When we go on group camp trips I have the chopping axe and a buddy has the splitting axe so we can use the best axe for the task. If I was solo and could only pick one that would be a difficult choice. I would say if you have any concerns with weight then go with the chopping, but if you don't mind packing, carrying & swinging the extra 1-1/2+ lbs then you may want to consider the splitting axe.

SUITS MY NEEDS
Bought this for use in a necessary evil type home project-The removal of a roughly 24 inch round stump by splitting and chipping away at it. I am not a huge muscular guy so the lighter weight worked well for me while still providing for a nice impact that got the job done. The ax edge was VERY sharp upon receipt and I sharpened it using the same brand's sharpener after every use to maintain the edge. At 60 years of age it took a few weeks of work at about 30 minutes a night to get it all done and out, including the roots where possible. Despite hitting some large gravel a few times the blade suffered very little damage and the edge was easily restored as noted above. VERY pleased with every aspect of this purchase.

Hacha Nivel PRO

Need a heavy-duty chopper - this is IT...
Probably the best 'large'-sized chopping axe available at any price. Simply eats through most types of timber with minimal effort. Comfortable to use and the fibre-comp handle eliminates most of the dangers associated with over-strikes with this size of axe.

Chops wood, much better than I had hoped
This axe is great. Solid, splits wood very well. The wood I have been splitting is seasoned, but the pieces are large. No vibration through the handle. Keeps it's edge. "Wood" recommend!

Very nice no fuss chopping axe
Chops like a dream. Aint no beauty like a Hults Bruk, but seems to perform just as well.
