Femalia Paperback – September 15, 2011

This book provides an educational resource, showing in frank detail pages and pages of "portraits" of the female vulva (the external female genitalia). It's beautifully photographed by a number of local photographers, including Michael Rosen. I've used this book to teach my male (and some female) clients about the vulva and it's incredible diversity of shapes, sizes, and colors. It's "one of a kind."

I have two books that I really love to use with clients when teaching about 'what is normal' when considering women's bodies, and particularly when discussing sexuality and vulvas, and this is one of them.For teaching, education, or your own knowledge of what is 'normal' for womens vulvas, Femalia , as well as The Yoni book,  The Yoni: Sacred Symbol of Female Creative Power  offer realistic representations of vulvas. The Yoni book in general is a positive, woman honoring elucidation of the female form and includes art, sculpture and natural formations that represent or resemble a woman's vulva as well. I really like the Yoni book for it's 'pro' woman, reverential perspective.However, for a book that is great for teaching and solely features realistic, color photographs of vulva's Femalia is the best choice. Femalia has full color images, one per page, and most have pubic hair, some are pierced, and women of all different skin colors are included.Personally, I think all mothers with daughters, (as well as anyone working with women and teens) should have them both. Openly discussing variances and allowing girls/teens to see what is normal will help them to have more realistic concepts of women's bodies (as well as helping girls to have a more positive self image as they grow up).

This is the best ever coffee table book. Guests are constantly intrigued, shocked, and frightened in that order. Some of the Vulva in this book are overwhelming, while others are just whelming. All in all, I would say that it is very tastefully done, and the pictures are high quality and consistent with each other. On a more serious note: I was shown this book during a required course in my medical school called "Project Prepare", where we give awkward pelvic/breast exams to knowledgeable actors and actresses who are familiar with the medical field. This book does an amazing job of preparing you for all the different Vulvular [sic] possibilities.

What a wonderful book! it's small but powerful, I think it would be a great addition for anyone's library and to help teach young women about their bodies. I loved that these pictures were of women who were NOT sexually stimulated. Also, that many of them were natural. I'm shocked when I hear a women and she doesn't know what her vagina looks like. Sad. What's that saying, "The more you know....knowledge is power.Excellent book!

it's not pornography at all.it's not so aesthetic photo.it's just very uninteresting photo.i don't recommend this book to anyone for any purpose.

I bought this book but the conditions are terrible, damaged. completely disappointed.

I found it to be what I expected and gave me more insight about the female body. It was interesting.

natural, correct language used, good quality photos and paper. A range of skin types, mostly unshaved. Am able to use this book to demonstrate the range of "normal" anatomy to a young woman.

I like this book a lot would love to see a men's reaction when opening it as a present that would be surely priceless as this are real women's private parts not the fake surgically one type porn movies stuff this book has educational value and would make all girls out there feel OK like there is nothing wrong with them!!!

Beautiful and worthwhile. A celebration of female variety beyond stereotypes.
