Illustration School: Let's Draw a Story

My favorite drawing books
I absolutely love this entire range of drawing books. This is the third one I've purchased for my kids and the instructions are so simple and charming. Anyone can learn to draw from these books. This one actually teaches you to make stories with expressions and sequence and different positions on the same figure. It's wonderful for a young aspiring comic artist, or just a hopeless adult who isn't very artistic.

Great book to play with drawing.
This is the third drawing book by Sachiko Umoto that we have purchased. My little artists have loved every one of them. As soon as they finish one they beg for another. They will spend hours recreating his drawings. This is by no means an in depth drawing skills book, but it is a great cartooning book. I have seen my children's confidence and skills increase as they have played with these books.

An Excellent and Accessible Illustration Book for All Ages
Sachiko Umoto's illustration books are fun for adults and kids who want to practice drawing without feeling overwhelmed or unprepared. I think they are geared toward kids, but I own all of the books in this series and have thoroughly enjoyed them. "Let's Draw a Story" is a bit different from the others in that it focuses more on how to structure a story, whereas some of the others focus more on how to draw the characters. Don't get me wrong - it is still full of drawing prompts. If this is your first Sachiko Umoto book, I recommend first trying "Illustration School: Let's Draw!" (the set that includes a 3-book complication and a drawing tablet). For new artists, the 'Let's Draw!' set will provide a good foundation. Umoto's art style is deceptively simply (meaning it isn't nearly as easy as it looks to draw these adorable characters.)

Confidence booster for Dyslexic Child
My dyslexic daughter wants to work on this every day. I love the idea of giving her a way to get her creative mind working and recording stories!

A great companion to the happy people and cute animals books in the same series
These books are cherished in our house. Any book that can take a 40YO Engineer and get me drawing cute and realistic people and animals in minutes is a fine thing! After working through the "Let's Draw" Cute Animals and people books, this was a lovely addition. My 9YO daughter has recently gotten into story writing. She loves crafting characters and plots to try and get her thoughts and stories out. This book really helps to add illustrative detail to the story and embellish the narrative. The style is inviting, and the content is accessible and warm in its delivery. Another winner in a gorgeous series of books that have helped to inspire us to draw when we really can't. Shhh...

Cute
Cute style of drawing with step by step guides that are easy to follow and also easy to adapt. There are spaces to draw/fill in within the book if you wish.
