Fantastic cycle helmet !
I have been looking for a sturdy bike helmet which offers "real" protection in the event of an accident. Most appear to be little more than a bit of polystyrene perched on top of your head but this is different ! And is certified for use in the UK, Europe & the US.Once adjusted, the fit is excellent (I'm a small size Arai motorcycle helmet but the medium Casco fits perfectly) and it appears confidence inspiringly well constructed. The product description did not fully describe this helmet "package" & I initially felt I was taking a bit of a chance. I needn't have worried !This IS the top spec Casco cycle helmet with the Vautron visor which reacts to UV / sunlight - becoming clearer or darker in response to ambient light conditions. The optical quality is excellent & means you can see as well in bright sunlight as in low light conditions !I usually wear contact lens but you would easily be able to wear a "normal" pair of glasses underneath if required.Whilst not stated in the description I can confirm it also comes with a smart storage / carry case and a cloth (microfibre?) visor protector.

Top helmet
Ace. Looks the dogs wotnots. Upgraded from a giro air shield. This is defo cooler. Lens not so easy to flip out of way. Fit is excellent-suspended on your head via net and tensioning band so stays relatively cool. Suffers from sweat build up in front pad like most aero/lens helmets...which then dumps sweat down inside of lens when your head is down sprinting hard. Was dubious about the photoreactive lens but does work-still easy to see when going from sun to shade. I also get lots of looks-not seen anybody else wearing one. Expensive but worth it. Superlight too-no neck ache after 3hrs on tri bike.Update from 4-5 years wear:Still an amazing helmet, that whilst showing edges of wear is still very comfy and feels like it will last. The inner net is still in great condition... just rinse and dry occasionally. Top german engineering!Brow sweat pad did give up as thats the bit that takes the wear (for me), but a few dabs of wetsuit glue stuck it back to the helmet. Casco did send out free replacements too: thumbs up to them.I also bought the clear plastic weather shield too: this is awesome. I have worn it for 2 winters and not had to wear a hat underneath: it blocks all the vents and just lets the helmet store the hot air keeping you warm without the restriction of hat against your skin. Was £25 but a very worthy addition.I have rarely used the vautron lens, it is awesome with great visibility and adapts well to changing light, but only really practical for time trials IMO when you are cracking on without breaks. I also feel it doesnt filter out brightness enough when its extremely sunny... so I tend to use a darker lenses from my oakleys.Expensive... but exceptional fit, robust and durable: lasts and lasts. I would spend the money again on one of these if I was to buy a new helmet

Took a while to be delivered but well worth the wait.Firstly, the helmet is very light, you really don't notice your wearing it, ventilation is also very good, no sweaty bonce after 5 hours in the saddle.Secondly, the Photochromic Visor is amazing, not once had to use sun glasses with this helmet and no glare, the optics quality is top notch, you really don't notice the visor. One massive plus point with not wearing sun glasses, your peripheral vision is greatly enhanced, notice this when looking over your shoulder for cars etc, its miles better.Another thing and this is just psychological, you don't notice head winds as much, makes for a nice riding experience in my view.My only criticism with the helmet is the strap fastener, its a bit fiddly, nothing awful but it could be better.

Be Aware: Doesn't come with the Vautron visor
Nice helmet, but be aware my cycling amigos: Although the description says photochromic visor, the helmet comes with a clear visor only. The visor is NOT the Vautron as advertised. Very disappointed.. Hence the 2 stars. Helmet it self is great.

Incredibly light and comfortable. Comes in a rigid helmet bag/box and a fabric visor cover. The foam nose guard on the visor is comfortable and the visor responds to the lighting conditions changing tint. The venting is good and an improvement on my previous road helmet. It is pricey, but weighing up against buying a helmet and sunglasses, for me this is more practical and means no more worrying about where to put the shades when not in use.
