Excellent software, but had to download it online--product key for box didn't work
ETA: 6.11.15. Following up my earlier review. (See below). I had given the filmpack 2 stars because I couldn't get the Product key to work and had to go to their website to order and download it after buying and returning the CD here. But I've been using it that way ever since and am always recommending it to people so it doesn't seem right to leave it at just 2 stars. My experience entering the code aside, this is excellent software--so much fun to use. I really enjoy the quick results without the time it takes for Photoshop.First it uploads all the photos in your file. Choose one and you'll see it displayed as it would look in many film simulations, not just like Fuji's Provia 100 or 400 or Kodachrome 25 but many you'll have never heard of before, both black/white and in color. It loads quickly and you can scroll through to see how your image might have looked with that film simulation--the contrast, saturation, hue, etc. There is a lot of variety and I often find something I like better than the original (including b/w). It is very different from adjusting Photoshop settings--you have someone else's settings already applied and see the end result from the beginning. When you double click to select any individual simulation, it takes you to the adjustments. You can crop, change hue, sat etc. but there's really no sharpening. The variety of presets is excellent and show potential adjustments There are frequent sales and I got the Elite edition at a discount. The Standard edition is very good, too, but Elite had just a few--really just three or four--of the various presets they added that I liked enough to think it was worth paying extra for them. That's why I recommend doing the free trial at DXO first to see if the Standard choices may be enough (there are a few more adjustments possible with Elite, too. Again, I thought it was worth it.)I have recommended this to a lot of people since I got it. I think it makes a very nice gift, too, especially for someone who wants to do some photo editing but doesn't have the patience or interest for Photoshop or others. Those have settings that automatically apply to photos and give you one result you can then adjust. What I like about this, is that it shows you -many- different looks and you just scroll through them to choose what you like, adjusting it if you want or keeping it as is.For someone more advanced who understands and enjoys all the film simulations of the past (and there's an explanation of the history and effects of each that you can turn on or off), it's enjoyable to apply them so easily. For someone who is new to photo editing, they can enjoy the experience of getting a variety of professional looks for their photos without any work at all. It's a really nice product.*****Earlier review: I really liked using this in the free trial online--great variety to choose from in the presets, interesting adjustments available, too. I got some really nice, very fast and easily adjustable results in both B/W and color photos.I didn't want to buy online though, so I ordered through Amazon and the software was shipped in its box directly from DXO. The box came in a lightly padded envelope so was kind of battered on arrival, but everything seemed intact and the inside box and CD were sealed.Imagine my disappointment when I saw the Product Key had a funny "degree" symbol following the first letter in the long series of letters. I tried everything I could copy/paste from Word--"symbols" that looked at all similar (nothing like it on my keyboard). But...it all came back, all came back "Invalid. Error." and I had to start again. Finally, I just sent it back--a smooth process as always through Amazon.But...very disappointing, because I think this image-processing software (and the less expensive version) gives some very nice results. There's not a lot of editing you can do--highlights, shadows, cropping, some "intensity" adjustments--but the main purpose is to let you try all the "presets" that simulate so many film styles, both black and white and color. Over time, I think you pretty much narrow it down to a handful that you really like (at least I did--I tried them all but only about the same 8 or 9 were ones I kept coming back to), but it's quick way to improve photos very quickly. Just too bad you can't install the CD.

I got the Essential edition, not the Elite edition ...
I got the Essential edition, not the Elite edition as described. The box says Elite but the About / splash screen says essential.Update:I contacted DxO and in a couple of days they sent me an activation code that unlocked the Elite functionality.

Amateurish Coimpany
It seems like an amateurish company that a bunch of software guys decided to produce a software and have little thought about the the production of the final products. I bought an Elite edition and the activation code was only for the Essential edition (like the other reviews), and I had to prove that I WAS NOT CHEATING THEM and had to go through a lengthy process to get an activation code for the Elite. I don't remember that I got an apology from them!

Give these creative presets a shot
I shot with 35mm film for a couple of decades before switching to digital. I can't tell you how accurate the film profiles are that DxO defines here. They seem generally correct to me for the few films I used, but the devil is in the details. DxO says it analyzed film results carefully in developing their profiles, and I have no reason to doubt them, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that a more experienced film photog than I did say, They didn't quite get one or more film profiles right.//In DxO's favor as far as accuracy is concerned, it's interesting to me to note that when I run an image through the dozens of options in FilmPack 5 Elite, without knowing which film I'm looking at, I usually have two favorites: Fuji Velvia, and Kodak Ektachrome, and in fact, these were the very two films I used the most for my favorite nature photography shots. Just sayin'. Note that if you hit the sliders just right in Adobe Lightroom or DxO Optics Pro, you can get close to the same results as you can get with FilmPack. But FilmPack will save you a lot of time. Also note: FilmPack 5 Essentials (or OpticsPro with a few included films from FilmPack) may give you the film profiles you prefer, without the added cost of the Elite edition.//I use FilmPack 5 Elite primarily as a set of presets where I can think creatively about how an image may take on a new dimension. It's a lot of fun in that regard. Once in a while, with an otherwise blah image, sometimes I find a keeper with a FilmPack 5 Elite preset. Your mileage may vary. For sure it's worth a free trial from DxO online to see if you like it.

Keine Software auf der CD!
nur der Produktschlüssel + ein Link zur Onlineregistrierung bei DXO.Download muss dann selber vorgenommen werden. Darauf sollte vom Händler hingewiesen werden!
