PEAK PRODUCTS AMERICA 1645 Galvanized Pipe Strainer, 3 x 4"

I recently had gutter-guards installed and I wanted to keep critters from climbing up the downspout and getting stuck in the gutter beneath the covers. The PEAK PRODUCTS AMERICA INC 1645 Galvanized Chef Hat Pipe Strainer 3"x4" works well to prevent local wildlife from entering at the elbow of the downspout.The strainer fits right over the end and while it's not a tight fit, if pushed on all the way to the dimple of the "Chef Hat," even a determined animal would have to work at it for a while to remove it. This could be further mitigated with an additional fastener like a large hose clamp or duct tape.My only gripe is that the seller (RH&H) shipped my items loosely which allowed [a few of] them to become bent out of shape from rustling around the box. I was able to CAREFULLY straighten the bends, but too much handling might lend to breakage of the "tine" ends.All in all, I'm more than satisfied with the product and its performance in this application.

I put new gutter on last year and changed form 4 in to 5 inch because the leaves would get clogged in the downspouts and I would have to remove them to clean them out. The larger downspouts worked much better, but some still got clogged. I tried foam inserts around the downspouts, but the leave piled up against them and stopped the flow of water.They only took seconds to install, and they are built strong enough to last for years. I had my reservations about how well these would work because they looked like they would allow leaves to get through. That has not been the case. I have just blown out my gutters for the last time this fall and they work great.

My downspouts on my home were enlarged to handle the large runoff in torrential downpours.The squirels began entering the downspouts and were unable to get out and they eventually died. These wire guards solved that problem.

Hard to find these downspout guards - especially for the larger standard 3x4 in. downspouts. Birds have taken to nesting in our downspouts and these are just what's needed to keep them little critters out. I bought the last one of these guards on Amazon and am just waiting until more become available. You won't find these at Lowes or Home Depot.

As advertised. Easy to install and fits well.

Installs in seconds and easy to fine tune if you need to. Cleans in seconds as well.

Not much to review.....it does what it's intended to do. I live in Hawaii and we don't have a lot of traditional trees with leaves around us so take this review with a grain of salt. I just needed to keep some general rubbish out of the gutters.

A must have for downspouts.
