First roller, works really well
I got this because of a recommendation from my chiropractor to pick up a roller because it's a cheaper alternative to deep tissue massage due to my psoas being incredibly tight. This is not a pool noodle, this is not a small little thing, as should be clear from the title of it. It says extra firm and has just the smallest amount of give to it when I press the heel of my hand into it with a lot of weight. It's not quite like laying on a log, but it's definitely firm. My concern was having something that wouldn't lose its shape or give much under my weight, I'm a fair sized guy at 250lbs and this seems perfectly resilient for me. Had it for a month with no shape change, no falling apart so far,it looks just like it was new. So far so good, it hurt like no other when I first used it but my chiro said that it would hurt really bad starting out because of how tight I am, it's made a world of difference so far and it's an amazing way to work out the aching and pain I have even throughout the day. You wouldn't normally think something with a pain related to it would be great when you're in pain, but wow does it help. If my back aches I just lay out and roll on it for a few minutes and my back feels better.I've also been using it to massage out my it bands and it has helped a lot in that area too and I didn't even know I needed it until I started trying. This is definitely something I would recommend for muscle aches. I got the 36" one and it works for everything but I feel I could get away with an 18" as well for my back, I wouldn't try using a 12 for anything but legs or maybe your side at least for someone my size (my torso is around 18" wide).I'm just really happy with this and surprised. I love the firmness of it and because this was my first roller, it was another concern of mine. I can handle a little pain and honestly like that in my massages because it gets deep and feels so much better afterward, but if you don't like that then I would suggest a softer roller, this one was perfect to me once I got over the soreness after initial use. Hoping it holds up well and feel like after a month of me laying all over it it's a good indicator.

Affordable, quality, firm roller!
This is the perfect foam roller! The price is great and the quality is just what you would expect to see in a gym. It is very firm and easily accommodates a heavier person. This is definitely a must have item for anyone who needs to stretch ones back. I have constant lower back pain and this is the only thing that provides any relief. The roller is great to do Pilates exercises on too. Look for some videos on YouTube to get a great work out. This is a must buy!

Misleading. It said foam roller but I didn't realize I was buying a rock hard Styrofoam roller that I couldn't use. I eventually purchased a low density foam roller, the type I thought that this roller was. It was a disappointing purchase.

This was like laying on a log
This was just too hard on my back. I have used foam rollers from my physical therapist and his are a little more pliant. This was like laying on a log.

Now I know why I needed a foam roller
I did a bunch of looking around and bought this because I believed it would be the best. I was going to purchase a cheaper one but then looking at some of those after a couple of months I spend just a little bit extra and bought this one. It is very firm and I have sat on it and it didn't give at all. The first thing that I foam rolled was my quads and oh my god did it hurt so bad.. After a couple of day it was tolerable. Now I foam roll about every 2 or 3 days but I guess I'm not as tense as I used to be because now it feels good!! I was also considering buying a shorter one because I live in a small apartment but I just wrap it up in my yoga mat. The longer one is better because they're are a couple of foam rolling techniques that you wouldn't be able to do with the shorter one. And there are some workouts too that I found on Pinterest or YouTube.

... roller for a couple of months now and I love it! It's my first one
I've had my foam roller for a couple of months now and I love it! It's my first one, so I can't really compare how well this works to any other foam roller out there. All I know is that it works really well for me. It definitely requires some upper body strength since you have to balance yourself while using it. At first it was really painful to foam roll. For example, I could hardly put any pressure on my calf when I was foam rolling it. The pain/discomfort was barely tolerable. But after a couple of sessions, it got a lot easier. Foam rolling really has helped to speed up recovery especially after leg day.
