Inform your neighbor about the ususage
I purchased 3 Flare Alert Lights and have mounted outside for my neighbor to easily see. When I turn on the Flare Alert Lights That my neighbor can readily see its an indication that I’m getting ready to take my Service Dog Outside for her to relieve herself or to play a short game of fetch. When I bring my Service Dog back in I Than press the button on both lights which of course turns the FLASHING Flare Alert lights off and is no longer than flashing. So you may ask yourself this question, for what purpose do the Flare Alerts Lights serve. For quit some times when I was taking my Service Dog out in the yard for a bathroom call, my neighbor not knowing my dog was out in my yard separated by a six foot chain link fence separating both our properties would let their 3 dogs out in their back yard. Within minutes the FenceCharging and Loud Barking Started.Loud enough that you could hear the dogs perhaps half a city block away,So, with the Flare Alert lights mounted and the flashing turned the neighbor could look out their window or back door and visually see the Flashing Flare Alert turned on and would not let their 3 dogs out until they could no longer see the Flashing Flare Alert we’re turned off and was now Safe to allow their 3 dogs access to their back yard without worrying if my Service Dog was out in my back yard since the two Flare Alert Lights I had installed were now turned off and it was perfectly safe to allow their dogs access to their yard without having to worry about territorial aggression leading to fence charging Between their 3 Dogs and My Service Dog,

Already put mine to good use twice!
Boy, these are just great! I bought two, back in November. One for hubby's car, one for mine. I got caught on icy mountain roads shortly after mine arrived and had to call a tow truck. I had my FlareAlert in the trunk of the car and had to slip-slide my way around to fetch it and one of my hazard sticks. Well that taught me a lesson to always have it within arm's reach, so I don't necessarily have to exit the vehicle to put it to use. It's not always safe to be walking around outside. When on a freeway with a lot of traffic going by, it's best not to get out at all. And, in this case with the ice and all, the car could have started sliding backwards on the ice, while I fiddled around in the trunk, or I could have slipped and hurt myself just groping my way to the back of the car and back. The second time I used it was in March when my car's power steering pump gave out on a long drive home from Toronto. This happened on a busy freeway, at night in the dark. This time I had the FlareAlert nearby and never got out of the car. I switched it on flashing mode and stuck it on top of the car and waited for the tow truck I then called. Both times I told the tow truck drivers that I would have the flashing red light on my car. When asked if the light was easily visible, they both enthusiastically told me that they could see it from way far away and that it really helped to know to look for it. Usually they tend to have to drive more slowly, trying to locate where the distressed car is - especially at night. Both occurrences happened at night. The FlareAlert is well built of very nice, solid plastic. It releases the light very strongly and clearly. The magnet on it is so strong that I have to be careful not to store any electronics near it. Hard drives and memory cards might not react favorably in its proximity...All in all, I am really happy I got this useful gadget and pleased with the way it performs and the service it has already rendered. Everyone should have one nearby in their car. It could be a real life saver! It will definitely save your car's battery while keeping you visible if you are stranded. No need to leave your flashers on if you are concerned about draining your battery (i.e.: if you have to turn your engine off - as I had to do or my car would have overheated). I may get a second one for myself, as I recall worrying that other cars passing by may not see the outer side of my black car at night. I could reach over the passenger seat and put one outside on that side too. Even if it's only attached to the door on that side, it would still give the passing vehicles a better idea as to my car's physical whereabouts. Safer yet that way... Also am keeping some additional batteries on hand - just in case.I recommend this product highly! And I know this whole review sounds a bit like an infomercial, but I am actually in no way affiliated with either the product manufacturers, distributors, or vendors. I just really feel enthusiastic about the usefulness of the product, having had the (unfortunate) occasion to put it to use twice now. Hope you all stay safe - with or without it. :)

Great LED flare for the price.
Unit has a very strong magnet in the base for sticking to you're car or anything else made of metal. The Amber LED in the unit seems plenty bright for a passing motorist to see at night, but during the day you would be better off sticking with you're standard incendiary flare. The pro-version claims to boast a 1 watt led instead of 1/2 watt, which probably would make the difference for daytime operation. As for the tight battery compartment, while it's is a tight fit the batteries seemed to pop in to the unit without a problem. I feel it was designed this way so the unit continues to function even under the vibrations of being run over, if the compartment was looser the batteries might dislodge as they often do in a TV remote and then the user would have to go in to harms way to get the flare functioning again. A nice addition would be a strap to pull the batteries out of the unit when it's time to change them. I haven't tested how long the unit functions on a fresh set of batteries, but the manufacturer claims 70+ hours in flash mode. I'd also like to get a second one and see if the sync flashing feature works. For the price I would say this is a very well build device, it even has a o-ring to keep water out of the internals of the unit.

Great flare replacement
Got these as a multi-use item, the primary use being as emergency lighting for my car and motorcycle in the event of a break down. The secondary/trivial use was as a costume item, mounted onto a helmet. The magnet is very strong on these and I used rechargeables for the costume bit, since it was a temporary fun thing. Then I bought lithiums for the actual emergency use, since I put two into my car trunk for deployment storage. The singleton will be going into my motorcycle bag for same, and the lithiums will last years on standby before dying. Two modes for the light: continuous on, and slow flash. A click in between modes. Easy, straight forward, works great. Seem pretty bright, especially at night. Can't commentate on the range or actual comparison with a traditonal flare, but they should last far longer on than a flare, which burns out in short order after what I consider to be an insufficient time. And, with these, there is no burn/fire hazard. On even less than a flat surface, the magnet is VERY secure, so no worry about it sliding off or needing to put it on the side of your car, for example. It is not going anywhere. Small, convenient and practical.
