This quick reference guide is great for people who need to know what business architecture is all about, without getting lost in the detail. As a practicing business architect, I personally need the detailed information provided in the BIZBOK to perform my role, however accept that this level of detail can be overwhelming for customers who only need enough information to understand the value of business architecture. As Oliver Gassmann and co. mention in the Business Model Navigator, a business model is not an isolated construct, but a complex network of relationships that is perpetually independent and constantly changing. This is important to remember when understanding the purpose of this quick reference guide and how it compares to the BIZBOK and other resources. Business architecture is a complex discipline by its very nature and the Guild has done well to recommend a common approach to considering these complex problems. There is no silver bullet and every business ecosystem has its unique challenges that might not fit neatly into a box, but this quick reference guide does well to serve its purpose: educate people in the periphery of business architecture so that they might better understand its value.

Finally, an easy to understand guide to business architecture! Many thanks to the Business Architecture Guild for this overview. It has answered my questions around the basic what, why and how of business architecture. The WHAT- What is business architecture? How does it differ from enterprise architecture, business modeling and operating models? The WHY- Why is business architecture needed? What are the business problems that can be addressed? The HOW- How do we establish this within an organization? How do we actually use business architecture to execute on strategy? Very helpful and highly recommended for those who need to have a grasp of the basics.

Great intro book. Worth the money and time. Much better than the Hadaya/Gagnon book. That said, I am curious to know how much substance there is in the BIZBOK that the book widely advertises. The true verdict for me will depend on the quality of the practical frameworks and cases that are allegedly included in the BIZBOK

Intended for people who want to know more about what Business Architecture is and is for. Those who want to start practicing will need to get the full book and probably join the Business Architecture Guild.

Clearly written, well organized, extremely applicable for a would be business architect who has been hungering for this discipline. Mary McConville
