Product Description This cordless phone emergency back-up system lets cordless phones work even during a blackout. The unit conveniently plugs into the cordless phone's base unit and its power supply and will automatically charge from the wall. .com The one downside to modern cordless phones is a big one if it ever catches you unaware: they don't work during power outages. This backup power supply from Southwestern Bell prevents this unnecessary hassle by providing 24 hours of standby time or four hours of talk time. It works with most cordless phones on the market. LEDs on the front panel display a visual cue to the amount of power left in the pack. The boxy modern styling and funky blue light panel make this power supply worthy of a permanent home on the counter instead of stuffed away in the closet with the rest of the emergency provisions. Easy to use, the unit connects between your cordless phone's power supply and the AC wall outlet.

Way overpriced but extremely useful
I actually have 2 of these for both my wireless phone systems. They are great. The first one I purchased at a Walmart "junk bin" sale - I think they stopped carrying it. I decided to purchase this one when my old one died. I was a bit shocked at the price but these seem to be hard to find so I guess it was worth it. They keep the phone functional for a reasonable time during power failures so, coupled with the battery operated handset, solve the problem of phone usage during blackouts (at least short blackouts).

I had to replace the 4 volt 4.5 AH battery but it now works.
The 4 volt 4.5AH SLA battery was dead and would not charge. I purchased a new one and replaced it. I now have a wireless home phone with battery backup. The flashing green light indicating charging has yet to stop but the battery is charged to 4.26 volts and has lasted 3 hours when our power went out

This would be a great low cost solution to keep the portable home phone base station active during an outage. However, the unit comes with several adapters but non of them fit my Panasonic system. I was able to cobble connectors by cutting the wires soldering on appropriate connectors. The next issue was it was not able to charge the battery and failed to output power when supply power was removed. After disassembling the unit and charging the battery separately, it still would not output voltage on loss of power. The battery appears to be functional and the charging indicator flashes as expected but the the battery voltage continues to decline. The solution was to discard the unit and use a real UPS unit to provide emergency power.

Faulty device. Not user-friendly
This unit did not work when arrived. Maybe it was defective but my phone did not stay ON after a power outage and the battery did not hold any charge. The sellers were very helpful and resolved the issue with me. I would not recommend this product as a battery backup for your cordless phone. Again, this is a review of the product and it does not necessarily reflects the seller's reputation.

Wrong Voltage Output
I purchased this piece for the Vtech cordless phone system that I purchased at the same time. This device provides DC current; the phone system requires low-voltage AC, so this will not work. Unfortunately, I was not aware of this requirement until after I received the phone and opened the package. I need to return this piece for a credit. What do I need to do?

not powerful enough
the product description should state what the packaging does, that the unit only provides 500mA at 12V.i wouldn't have purchased if i had known it was so puny.:(
