The Roots Complete Collection [DVD] [2007]

I have waited a long time to see this movie again I got tired of waiting so I purchased it .I remember my Husband and I loved this movie so happy I Purchased it

First let me say that this rating is NOT for the movie/mini-series itself, rather it is a commentary on the seller. I haven't seen the mini-series since I was a young child and yet it stuck with me after all these years so much so that I wanted to share it with my teenaged son. In my opinion this series should be required viewing for ALL high school students. Imagine my grave disappointment and unabashed anger when, having carved out time in my and my son's very busy schedules to sit down and watch this important film together, I put in the first disc only to find that it and the rest of the discs are unwatchable here in the US. It has the wrong region code so no player here in the United States can play the content on the disc. I spent $40 on absolutely nothing!!! Beware anyone contemplating buying from this seller, there was nothing in the description of the movie boxed set that said that it had the wrong region code, it's nowhere to be found on the box or on the discs themselves either. I haven't been able to figure out how to get my money back yet but I hope to be able to at some point. ~t*)

Thank you Amazon for my refund. I sent ROOTS back to the seller (Mars Movie). I did order a magnifying glass through Amazon. I received the order on time and loved it. I am once again a loyal Amazon customer.

I am replacing my roots VCR best mini series. I live in the US but have a DVD that plays all regions love it

tried my luck Amazon refunding but still annoying English version but not For US

They came ,had scratches and finger prints all over. Cleaned up and they won't play.

Will not play in my machine, made for eu market, thew it in the trash, not going to buy a new machine to watch a movie.

And I had 😠 2 of the box set and then we're all the same don't buy it it you're wasting your money. Yours faithfully Ms S Birchenall 😡👎.

Be very careful when ordering these , the ones i received have the titles hand written in black marker pen on the disc themselves , looks like some shoddy pirated copy . My player won't play some of the parts which i suspect is down to the marker pen

Alex Haley has produced a masterpiece that will certainly become a "classic". The story is authentic and well researched, which makes it a valuable contribution to the historical records, and it is also extremely well written so that the details come alive and are easy to remember.I bought the DVD series after having read the book because I wanted to bring th story even more alive than it already was. I wanted to know more about the history of the United States of America and the role of the American Negro in that saga; and to try to see it all through his eyes. Alex Haley delivers the goods and I felt better informed after reading the book, and more enlightened after seeing the DVD collection.I strongly recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys "history brought alive" - a luxory we didn't have back in the days when I was at school.Jack Haslam

I've watched this and found it very informative. I have 2 mixed race daughter do feel its important to keep them well informed of both races

Ordered this for my husband for Xmas stocking filler. We watched this series when it was first shon on TV back in the 70s and it was one of the most powerful dramas I have ever seen. We were talking about the fact that it had never been re-shown and that gave me the idea to get him it for xmas. From what I remember quite a lot of this is quite challenging - poignant - heart breaking and in places amusing. A well produced and acted portrayal of the slave trade and the human cost within.Im sure we will enjoy wacthing it again.
