Shocking little gadget.
I bought this device because a co-worker of mine recommended it. He had the regular version and I had to one up him. The item came right on time as always, when I buy through Prime. I was hesitant on this because i was not sure how strong the wires would be. The picture does not do it justice. The wires are more like aluminum bars about the thickness of a 8 gauge nail and are pretty strong. I have applied pressure with my hands to verify its well made and wont break. The racket end is about the size of a badminton set and the handle is the size of a tennis racket. It houses 2 C batteries. The test is how well it shocks. My first attempt sold me on it. I found a large carpenter ant and threw it onto the bars. The second it touched, electricity sparked (made a loud pop) and the ant exploded and landed about 4 feet away. It was enough that my kids didn't want to be anywhere near it or attempt to use it. I next used it on a small moth flying in my house. This did not spark, I'm assuming do to the size and little to no body mass, but i didn't release the button right away and the moth turned red and smoldered. You could see the burn going through it. I have been waiting for a large gathering of bugs outside my house in a swarm to take a swing or two at. The issue is getting use to swinging it at bugs. Fly's are pretty fast and can be hard to hit. In the end this thing is in no way a toy and does its job well. Update I have a gazebo I am building and am currently putting in the screening. Flies are coming in like crazy. I decided to get this out because, my sugar gliders, eat flies and I figured I can score them an easy meal. I have been using it and for small insects, its pretty lethal. Some flies that land on it die, and if you let off some juice, you can see their wings move from the nerves. Pretty morbid, I know. Anyways, this makes a pretty loud crack when the bugs touch it, but I'm finding larger bugs (and some smaller) are not killed by this. I hit a fly 4 times in the air, each time the fly created a spark, but did not go down. Now i don't know if these are local flies, or ones from Krypton, but many larger insects can take the shock. Most smaller ones die. Larger ones it's a toss up between death, wounded to the point they can't fly or laughing it off. I have even had a few horse flies come in. If you have never seen a horse fly, count yourself lucky. They are about the size of Mothra from the old Godzilla movies. The few that I've had, have gone down but not died. I usually just whack them and put them out of their misery before being eaten (by my gliders of course). I originally said this is not a toy, but I am finding it REALLY FUN to use.

Works great
This thing is the best . I upgraded the c cells to slightly larger TIF batteries from a tif combustible leak detector so instead of 1.5 volts they are 2. 2 volt cells and it blows bugs apart . Fries them instantly .

Happy Zapping!
I truly beleve this is the best bug zapper made its a single plane grid that works the best out of all the zappers I have used to date. I have used this product for around 12 years and have left it outside, not in the rain but on the porch and finally broke it by leaving it in the rain for a couple of weeks thus the reason to buy the new one I have made the mistake of using other zappers with the multi layered sheets of grids and have seen bugs land on them when energized and fly off. Its a really great tool to have I highly recommend this swatter racket happy zapping!

The Devil"s tennis racket!!
First,i'll start by saying that this is the big brother of the standard Executioner. It is much larger and much more powerful. The measurements are 22in in legnth, the actual racket head measures 10 1/2 in x 8 in. The handle is the same size as an actual tennis racket, give or take. It is built very well and is very sturdy. It comes with a very nice case, and uses 2C cell batteries which are included. The unit activates with a single push button on the handle with a solid click,it must be held in manually. A red led and a high pitched whine let you know it is powered up and ready for business! This thing will kill pretty much whatever it touches in the bug world. It does so with a bright blue flash, and a snap that i louder that several cap guns. By mistake i swung at something at night and it was a bat, and this unit killed it (sorry, it was not intentional, i know bats are useful,my bad). This unit does not have the protective mesh on the racket to protect you from shock, so be careful. This is actually a good thing because it will zap any size creature, whearas the ons that have the protection are limited on the size of the critter they can zap. To wrap it up,..This is an awesome unit, well built, and will do what you ask of it. The only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is because i would have liked a power button that stays on when pressed. Buy this unit because it is larger and more powerfull, it is a little pricy but i feel it is worth it. Just a couple of hints: Since the handle is plastic it can be a little slick, especially if your hand sweats. I found that several pieces of non-slip tape around the handle works great (i used hockey tape). Keep this away from flamable gas or liquids. So before you go on a BBQ killng spree make sure you steer clear of the propane or lighter fluid, or you'll be the one getting fryed. Don't get it near to sensitive electronics, no waving it around granpa's pacemaker! KEEP THIS AWAY FROM THE KIDS!!!! You wouldn't let a child play with a frayed electrical cord, don't let them play with this. I accidentally zapped myself with this....super painful! This also keeps the pesky neighborhood dogs in their own yards,...along with the pesky neighbors!! LOL Hope this review helped fellow Amazoners' I will update if need be.

Tried Many, Executioner is the Best
This offers the best zap of any I tried. Here are some items: 1) Pro Executioner vs Executioner: - the zapper circuits are identical. I have both, opened both, they really are the same. - Pro works off two C cells so it lasts longer than the two AA powered regular version. - The Pro has a larger zapper head (more area) that the regular. - Pro comes with a not particularly rugged vinyl case. 2) Lethality: - Zaps gnats just fine. Their wings need to be oriented properly to bridge the zap gap, but swing away and it sounds like popcorn. - Blows away mosquitoes with a satisfying crack. - Stuns and occasionally kills flies. Always knocks them out of the air. - Stuns wasps, but you'll need to finish them off ala foot once they fall. - It hurts if you zap yourself. Not a toy for the young ones as the zapper mesh is easy to accidental touch 3) Durability - They can fail never to zap again. Seems like it can happen when the battery gets to low. I have one set to repair and will post what I find - The zapper mesh isn't fragile, but it not particularly strong either. Needs cardboard backing for travel 4) Competition - I've tried a lot of these. The Executioner zapper electronics are the best I've run across. - The "Astor" brand zapper looks the same, but the zap circuit is not the same and not as good. - The "Electrocutioner" has a similar but smaller head, but, again the zaperp circuit is inferior. - The protected mesh $6 to $10 dollar ones do work, but a couple of notes: -- The mesh is not usually any finer (closer) the the executioner as far a gnat zapping goes -- It can be tougher to get some bugs into the triple mesh sandwich design. -- Again the zapper circuits are lower voltage and yield a fizzle, but no a crackle-pop -- While it seems all these zappers are prone to failure, the cheaper one do seem to fail faster, but not always. It's a mystery? -- It is harder to self zap, but a curious child can easy poke his fingers in and find a way. -- The executioner discharges the mesh when you release the switch. The cheap ones don't bother and can stay somewhat "hot" for a minute or so.

Twice Burned!
After looking at various options for an electric bug zapper, I decided on the Executioner Pro. The many positive ratings, higher price ($29.99), and higher voltage all seemed to point to a great product. I ordered one in January and LOVED IT when it arrived! It zaps bugs with a large blue spark and loud pop, which is most satisfying. However, after a few months it stopped zapping. It still had some electricity and sometimes could "cook" the insects, but no zap, no flash, no pop. I took it apart to see if there was something that could easily be fixed, but everything appeared in order. I broke the handle while dismantling it, so I could not return it and ordered another one for another $30 in August. The new Executioner Pro arrived and performed great! I was back in action! The flies and mosquitoes were popping and dropping! Then, after 31 days, the same problem happened - the wires have a little bit of electricity, but no more zapping. I tried to return it via Amazon, but was literally one day past there return policy. The I checked the website of the seller (http://www.theexecutioner.co.uk/) and called the telephone number listed there, only to find it was DISCONNECTED! So, $60 gone, no one left to honor the warranty promised on the package, and more garbage goes into the landfill. I will not be ordering a third one. Note that the positive reviews are from people who first use the zapper. If they came back after a few months, I'll bet most of those 5 star ratings will fall to 1 star!! You have been warned. btw - I love the idea of a working bug zapper. If anyone knows of one that has worked at least, say one year, please let me know!

Dispatch Pesky Flying Insects with a Swing and a POP!
Before I owned the Executioner Pro Fly Swatter, I owned two less expensive models, but neither one lasted even one season. I am well on my way through my first season with this model, and I am very, very happy with it. From yellow jackets to red wasps to hornets to my favorite pest, carpenter bees, this swatter rocks! The first time you contact a large flying insect, just be aware that there will be a quite loud sound, just like a large stationary electronic bug zapper makes, that will occur when you make contact. It will sound between a loud cap gun and a .22 short rifle round being fired off! Sometimes, the larger bees will not be outright dead with first contact, but they are almost always incapacitated enough to walk over and step on them. You can also just activate the swatter and touch them again and that always finishes them off. Carpenter bees are my favorite---with a good solid swing and a very satisfying "POP!", my average distance from initial contact to where they 'land' is 25-30 feet! :-) Being highly allergic to all species of bees, I have my Executioner Pro always handy and it has yet to fail me. And yes, you may miss a few, especially if you swing way too hard. It does not take a super strong swing---let the electronics do it's thing. Just make good, solid contact and that will usually do it! This sure beats using aerosol sprays that leave stains and poisonous residue around too! I would definitely recommend this device to anyone who needs to get rid of nearby flying pests and it does it safely. Plus, it's just fun to do! :-)

This is THE zapper of all zappers!
I bought several of the very first racket style bug zapper when they came on the market and they were good, but didn't last long. Then they begin coming out with some sort of shields over the wires, I guess to prevent idiots from sticking their faces in it. Problem is, they also prevent mosquitos from getting fried, they just bounce off those shields and have dinner on you.. This year I ordered one of these Executioner Pros and man, my yard doesn't have enough mosquitoes! It's too cool when this monster zaps one, it's a serious ZAP, louder and more flash than those cheaper ones. I carry it all over the year searching for mosquitos but I think they all hide when they see me with this bad-boy Executioner in my hand! Does Amazon sell mosquitos? Probably.
