Works and sounds great!
I was all set to buy a new Soundbar for my 2012 Sharp HDTV. Then I discovered a few things, like how my TV does not have a ARC HDMI connection and that the Optical Out on the TV does not send out sound if the input is connected via HDMI. What? I called Sharp to confirm.Then it dawned on me to look for a converter from Analog Out (Left/Right red/white) to Optical. This low cost gizmo came thru for me.I resurrected my old surround system (LG Blu-ray system that I now use just for surround sound).I have my Sony PS3 and Cable box connected to my HDTV and have my converted analog to optical signal connected to my LG surround sound and life is great. When I watch football I hear the crowd coming out of 4 speakers and the announcers coming out of the front speaker.With Blu-rays it is even better. I love this little device. Saved me a bundle!

Converts analog to digital perfectly
This device works perfectly for what is supposed to do - convert the RCA left and right audio to a digital signal. I used it to add an Atari 800XL to my A/V receiver as all the RCA audio inputs were taken.

Does not specify this is only an audio converter on the ad. Very misleading ! I'm returning item fur a refund!!

Had high hopes for this inexpensive adc, but...
This is a very reasonably priced adc with a good build quality. I wanted to use this to provide a signal from an older tv's headphone output (no digital audio output) to a working Technics digital surround processor outputting analog Dolby pro logic/ac3. I could not get this to work and tried multiple i/o cable swaps as well as equipment checks. I've used a Sennheiser audio processor in a similar setup for years and am confident in my ability to diagnose, hookup, and use consumer av equipment.

This does what it is designed to do. My one complaint is the obnoxiously bright LED that is on all the time. It puts Rudolf (or Zero for that matter) to shame!
