Jaguar E-Type: The Essential Buyer's Guide Paperback – July 15, 2005

The information in this book is fantastic, and spells out what to look for when searching for an "E". In depth details (sometimes TOO thorough for the novice) are accompanied by photos. *Comment about the photos* I wish they were larger. I strongly suggest this book for anyone evaluating a potential purchase.

This book is great for those new to the E-Type who want to get a good grounding on the various models and different things to look for. It's fairly high level, but provides a good introduction. For those who really want detail, the collectors originality guide is probably a better bet. I purchased both.

The Buyer's Guide to Jaguar E-type was a little disappointing due to the small size of the book. The text was OK, but the pictures was really bad. Too small and didn't really showed what the text told. The bound of the book could have been a bit softer too.

This gets you in the game of understanding the E type but that's about it. If you really want to get into it there are other, better books. This is OK for what it is, a short relatively inexpensive way to learn about the "E".

I was expecting more detail. Although it did have some information on the E type that I was seeking, much of the book was about basic car buying techniques.

This was very informative when I was buying my car. I know Peter personally, and found his writing here invaluable.

If you like 'E' types or really want one, start here.

While a book of this length cannot possibly insert all the important photos the ones that are referenced are not clear. Perhaps they've been cropped from larger photos but many do not show what the text refers to. Having said that there are other more comprehensive books out there for photos. Jaguar E-Type 6 and 12 Cylinder Restoration Guide by Thomas Haddock is just this kind of bible. Overall a great small book to point one in the right direction prior to a second step of having a pro inspect.Rob

This is a modest little book and pricey at £14 for 64 pages.However...it does exactly what it says on the tin, with a great deal of common sense and practical advice if you are intend on purchasing an E-Type. Frankly, it scared the bejaysus out of me as it shows just what a money pit an E-type can be for the unwary and uninformed if you get the wrong one. It also highlighted how laughably overpriced some of the "good for restoration" models I've seen on some webistes are.If you're going to drop £20k+ on a 50 year old car then this book will make sure you have your eyes very wide open, with detailed sections such as "15 minute evaluation" and "Serious Evaluation".I'd give it 5 stars but some of the photos are postage stamp sized and I simply couldn't make out the point he was trying to highlight, page 45 has a few of them!In summary, a well worth the purchase and a good companion piece to David Barzilay's E-Type Restoration Manual.
