Billy the Egomaniac: A Smashing Pumpkins Comic

How did I miss this book being published? I used to follow this comic, even emailed the artist a time or two to make suggestions for future offerings. I followed her through several domain changes before eventually losing track.It takes a certain kind of Pumpkins fan to truly appreciate Billy's egomania. I'm thrilled to have these in print form.

I grew up reading this! I still love them and love that I can find them now that the crooked teeth site is down.

This book is hilarious, but I want to clarify a factual error. On one page it says something like, 'and that's how Billy ended up with not one, but two leather skirt-like dresses,' but that's incorrect. Billy, in fact, had at least 4 of those leather trench coat dresses that he wore publicly: there was a black one and a white one, both worn on the Machina tour (the black was worn during the heavier sets, the white during the acoustic sets); there was one that was both black and white which can be seen in the Smashing Pumpkins' performance of 'Cash Car Star,' on Jay Leno's show back in 2000; finally, there was the black and silver one he wore at SP's "last" show back in 2000. Just clarifying.

Bought this as a gift for an avid Pumpkins fan, and he found it very humorous. Filled with inside jokes that only a true Billy Corgan fan would fully appreciate, but still a great gift for any Smashing Pumpkins fan.

I was thrilled when I saw this comic while browsing. As a loooong time Smashing Pumpkins fan this really brings me back as I recall reading these online! Despite my fandom waning over the years, these comics capture the best and worst aspects of The Smashing Pumpkins. At their best they were amazing live/musically and at their worst could alienate fans or the general media over a quote or set list. Needless to say, its tough to be a Pumpkins fan. This also serves as a time capsule about the end of radio, MTV, and the state of music as we entered the 2000s. Most of all provides several reminders about what made me call this band my favorite as a teenager.

This graphic novel is great. As a longtime fan of the Pumpkins and comics, it's a wonderful combination. Anybody that is familiar with the Pumpkins and the sometimes odd behavior of the one and only Billy Corgan, this book should be right up your alley.I have ordered many items throughout the many years on Amazon, but this book is the first time I have actually felt the urge to write a review. This book should be read and enjoyed, Pumpkins' fan or not.

Great book! Tons of laughs!!! I'm a HUGE Pumpkins and Corgan fan and I love this comic. It's funny because a ton of it is true. I know some die hard fans will be drinking the "haterade" because most of the book makes Billy look egotistical, arrogant, selfish, sneaky and just down right foolish but it's done with love and respect by a fellow Pumpkin Head so cut it some slack and enjoy the crazy ride!
